i am so incredibly' stressed out right now.

gabe is so fussy & nothing is helping & i have been alone with him for the majority of the day.. i was at the trailer & .chris was at work until 3 & then had a bunch of errands to run.. so i came home tonight hoping to get some help.. but nahhh, both my parents are way too trashed to even function. my mom tried to feed .gabe, but she couldn't even sit him up to burp him. what. seriously. it's so doing it stupid.

i'm just so frazzled & tired & stressed & i just want to relax. i'm about to cry.

Try placing your forearm into his abdomen with slight pressure, bounce a little bit and tap his back with the palm of your hand fingers up. He might have a deep burp that he is unable to release. Or you can try laying him across your legs and roll him gently. Slight pressure in the abdomen area sometimes helps get the burps up that are hard for them to release.

How much does he eat at each feeding and does he burp well? Just out of curiosity
I hope that he stops fussing for you soon. I remember how stressful it could be when my babies would fuss and you just can't figure out why. It seemed as if all that wanted to do was eat. But try to refrain from feeding him if you feel that he had just ate and it should have been enough to fill him up for awhile because it could cause blotting/gas to become worse. Try burping him for a while before feeding

Just some advice I really don't know if this is the case or what you have already tried but good luck and I hope he gets better.

6-7oz could be a little to much for his little belly and that could be why he is a bit fussy. The normal amount that babies eat in the beginning is about 4oz. Try cutting him back just alittle bit. He may have had an upset tummy today and that could be why he was a bit fussy. Is he doing better yet?

see, but that's the thing, he started taking 4oz at a time when he was a week old in the hospital. & .after he takes a 4oz bottle, he still roots like crazy & if i don't give him another ounce or two, he screaaaams. i can tell he is definitely not satisfied with just 4oz.

Does he burp half way through? does he take a binkie? Are you nursing or is he just on formula? I could be wrong some babies can eat a bit more than others. All babies are different of course. But if he continues to fuss he could have gas, the paticular formula could be upsetting his tummy, or he might be collic. It is so hard to say not being around him but if he continues to fuss often then it could be one these. How long in between does he wait to have another bottle? I am not an expert by all means but I have worked with infants in a daycare for 15 years and pretty good at detecting what is going on when they are fussy. So I hope you don't mind that I am trying to help. I have seen so many babies be fussy because of gas contributed to either eating to much, wrong formula or just the way the baby is and they are just so miserable until we are able to relieve them and I have learned many tricks in that department as well. So I would love to help if you need some help you can PM me anytime. Good luck!!

Ask your peditrician if it's ok if you give .Gabe .Mylicon. It is infant gas relief, and it works really well. It saved my life with my daughter, and has come in handy already once with .Jaylon. Instant relief. It is like $10 for a 1 ounce bottle of the stuff, but you only use a little bit 0.3ml, so it lasts.
Good luck.

warm water has the same affect as .mylecon(waste of money)!

Try keeping him at 6oz. Give him a bink if he's rooting. His belly needs time to relay to his brain that he's full. Once it's sent the message, he should be fine.

I'm sorry he's not cooperating and being fussy! It can be very overwhelming!!!

Oni always did *great* when we took her outside. SO her first 3-4 months was spent outside.

I actually thought she was allergic to the a/c!! ha!!

i loved mylicon, it was a lifesaver for us. finn was super fussy when he was tiny and we started putting mylicon in every bottle and the fussiness went out the window. i don't know how warm water would have the same effect though. we mixed his formula with warm water and he was still bothered, when we put the drops in you could actually see all the bubbles disappear and no more gassy discomfort!

we were only paying 88 cents a bottle though so we used it freely. $10?! that's outrageous!

what? Where the heck were you buying it? Was it the name brand???, and for .God's sake ship me up some.

When my daughter was a baby, she had a lot of gas. The mylicon was the difference between sleep and insanity!!! I had .N.O money and remember I would have sold my soul to the .Devil for mylicon because it was so expensive, but worked like a charm. It seems as though it was more $ then almost 17 years ago. .Ugh

Now, money is tight, but at least we have 2 good incomes.

I think what .Sarah meant was a warm bath works, which it does but .Jaylon hates hates hates to have a bath, so it's trading a belly ache for a hysterical naked baby. Laughing

I'm not talking about formula (water + powder). I'm talking about plain warm water. It breaks up bubbles the same way mylecon does.

I got this info from the book "happiest baby on the block".

Once I read it, I began giving her warm water, and she would fart or burp and be fine.

naah, I was talking about 3/4 oz of warm water in a bottle to break up gas bubbles. Wink

I mean, to each their own. I'm just saying what worked for us.

Mylecon here is 8 dollars for a 1oz bottle. Sooooo not worth it. The warm water worked wonders for us.

if i'd had to pay $8-10 for a bottle of gas drops then i would've tried the warm water first, i'd just never heard that before.

nick works at a hospital so we get all meds (and diapers!) ridiculously cheap.

speaking of diapers.. i usually use .pamper's .swaddlers.. & i absoultely love them. never had a leak or any type of problem with them. but my mom went to .kmart the other day & we needed diapers, & i didn't ask her to get any, but she did & they didn't have .swaddlers.. so she got .pamper's .baby .dry & i can't *stand* them. he leaks through them & i hate that they aren't stretchty- i feel like i can't get them tight enough on him! drives me nuts.

it is awesome! they have an employee store that has pretty much any medicine you'd find in a pharmacy (like claritin, benadryl, ibuprofen, etc) as well as things like bandaids, gauze, alcohol swabs, vaseline, pampers, etc. and everything is wicked cheap! our medicine cabinet is completely (over)stocked.
