speaking of diapers.. i usually use .pamper's .swaddlers.. & i absoultely love them. never had a leak or any type of problem with them. but my mom went to .kmart the other day & we needed diapers, & i didn't ask her to get any, but she did & they didn't have .swaddlers.. so she got .pamper's .baby .dry & i can't *stand* them. he leaks through them & i hate that they aren't stretchty- i feel like i can't get them tight enough on him! drives me nuts.

I used the swaddlers on .Logan for a while because I looooved them. Same as you, I never had a problem with them leaking or anything, and they're so so soft. I tried other stuff cause I had them as gifts or whatever, but I always went back to the swaddlers. Now that he's in 3s, he wears Huggies supreme natural fit. I used to hate huggies with a passion, but these are really good. He sleeps all night long, and it's very rare that he's leaked when he wakes up in the morning.

Hey, I'm sorry Gabe is fussy! I hope you get some rest soon!

I don't know if this was said or not but I was told by the dr. and have read that you should *never* give a baby this young water at all! It can cause water intoxication and such and can be fatal. I gave brayden a tiny sip of water to stop hiccups but as soon as I was informed of those facts I stopped! So ask your dr. before you try water!

we don't have a choice since we get our diapers from the hospital, so size 1 were pampers swaddlers and i loved them, but the size 2 pampers were baby dry and i *hated* them because they had no stretch. now he's in size 3 and they're also baby dry but they're super stretchy and i love them again, they're a lot like the swaddlers. he wasn't in size 2 for very long, i think it's because the tabs didn't stretch.

yes that is true.
"Because a newborn's kidneys are immature, she has a difficult time concentrating her urine, and if given too much plain water, may have trouble excreting it. This could lead to dangerous changes in the concentrations of sodium and potassium in her bloodstream. "

I uderstand where everyone is coming from.

But, I know for sure that my Dr. wouldn't advise me to give my child something that would harm her. In any way.

Like i've mentioned before, he is very very old schooled.

I will give my next child water in between feedings as well.

Sarah

maybe it's because it's very hot and humid where you live and he didn't want her to get dehydrated?

ok i am not getting into this debate again, but this is a daily occurance. doctors make medical mistakes every day. thats why there are lawsuits. i am not saying that giving your baby water *will* kill her, but it is definitely a possibility that it *could* lead to complications...and thats why our naturopath says absolutely no water for an infant, no matter where you live or how hot it is. doctors are not gods. plenty of them provide medical advice that can do more harm than good. for example, the doctors that encourage formula over breastmilk and say that its better....give me a medical answer break, any person with half a brain knows that breastmilk is nutritonally superior to formula.

i don't think he's making "mistakes". i think he's really old-fashioned and hasn't accepted new things. it seems like he's just stuck in his ways.

personally, i would've found a new (up to date) doctor long ago.

i'm not saying he's a bad man. i just can't think of how to word things without insulting sarah or coming across as offensive.

edit: i think i come off as very rude here, but that's not my intention. i'm sorry if i've offended you, sarah!

no i am not saying that what he tells her to do are "mistakes: per say. but i quoted that line for a reason. she said "im sure that my doc wouldnt advise me to give my child something that would harm her in any way".
the facts are...doctors do these things every day. how can you be so "sure". there are plenty of doctors that advise things that do more harm than good. ie, pushing formula on people who *want* to breastfeed. there are other examples but i am not going to give them because i am not out for starting a huge debate.
i have found my son a different doctor. a doctor who gives advice, doesnt push aap information, and lets me, as the parent, make the final decision. he respects me, because i thouroughly research the other side of things, where as most parents blindly follow every word their doctor has to say, without informing themselves, and have to pay the price later on. im really tired of so many doctors that wont look into the other side of things. so many of them are too arogant to listen to the parents needs or concerns and brushes them off. they act as if their literature is the bible, when in fact there are much more current, up to date studies on things that they really should become informed about.
ook i am done rambling for now.
