Strange..lump? I Guess You Would Call It
Posted: 04-23-07 18:52pm

Hi all,

About 5 weeks ago i had the flu real bad, and the infection apparently hit my testes and i was having some pain, so i went to the doctor. he said that i had a case of epidimytis (tried to spell it haha) and i was taking some antiboitics to rid the infection. Since then, the pain really has gone away, but i noticed somethnig on my left teste that i never did notice before, and its not on the right one. It feels like a thick vein, or a bundle of veins, but im not sure. I think its a type of vein or tube because its not entirely round like a ball, and its also kind of long, sorry but its kind of hard to describe haha. Its at the bottom, but kind of on the back of the teste as well. I thought that it might be the epyditmis, but then i heard that that is actually on the top of your teste. this lump, or vein or whatever it is causes me no pain, and i notice it more when i get out of the shower...at times (especially wehn they are hangin as low) i cant even feel the lump at all.

Just wondering what all your input might be as to what this is, i am scheduled to see a urologist this week.

thanks

Well, if you're going to see a urologist there isn't much reason to speculate as he will have a better idea.

However, if it is indeed a vein, it could be a varicocele, which is basically a varicose vein of the testicle.

Also, if you took antibiotics recently, you should replenish your probiotics, good bacteria. They're good for digestion, immune system and keeping bad bacteria in check. Antibiotics kill all bacteria, good or bad, and make it more likely to get another infection if you don't have immunity and probiotics to defend your body.

Get rid of it? You mean, if it did turn out to be a varicocele? If that's what you mean.. it's not necessarily something you need to get rid of. 15% or more of males have it and are symptom free. Some do have pain as a result and would like a remedy. The standard treatment is surgery, but there is another option of embolization which inserts a coil into the offending vein. I have a varicocele and it does cause pain, but I prefer to go natural routes. So I found some possible solutions with herbs that are traditionally used for varicose veins, after all that's what it is.

No reason to go into detail as you might not have one, but if you do I've written some info on this site and I'll link you to it if it comes down to it and you're interested. I can't vouch for their working however, as I didn't follow the regimen because I needed to concentrate on a bigger problem.

As for replacing your good bacteria...buying an enteric coated, multi-strain, high count probiotic supplement would be your best bet. Take that for a couple months and then just use maintenance dosage if you want indefinitely. Take it in higher doses after antibiotics. In terms of diet, reducing sugar, refined carbs, alcohol, etc. Eating plain organic yogurt may also help as it contains good bacteria. Plain, because the others contain sugar, you can flavor it if you want by making a fruit smoothie with it or adding a natural (no high sugar, processed, artificial stuff) jam.

ok thanks, and if its in any relation, i have noticed the past couple of days i have been urinating more often...and for a while it was clearand odorless liek what happens after downing a few beers, but now the color and smell is back to normal...could this be related to an inbalance in my system?

Look for Garden of Life Primal Defense probiotics.

I wouldn't know. Could just be you drank more fluids or had something (food or otherwise) that was more diuretic (elevates urination).
