Feeling Distressed, Any Advice Appreciated Posted: 04-23-07 23:26pm
Hi, firstly I want to say it's a relief to
find such a good forum and I really need
to talk to people who understand this
condition. I was diagnosed by a
Bio-magnetic therapist as having low
chromium levels and with the symptoms I
had, he told me it was Hypoglycemia. He
put me on a good diet and told me to take
chromium.
I am feeling distressed and depressed
because I feel I have wrecked my health by
eating too much sugar all of my life. I
wish I had been able to know what sugar
does and been able to modify my diet
before it got this bad. I feel so sad
because I have caused myself to feel so
unwell, I could barely eat for 8 weeks
because of the nausea and anxiety. I
thought I was going crazy before I found
out what was wrong. I think it got
triggered so badly because of the stress
of having to move house twice in one year.
Still having problems with worrying about
things too much. Can't seem to tolerate
anti depressants for long and I think they
have aggravated my Tinnitus.
I have been on the diet for 5 weeks and
have seen an improvement, but I seem to
have had a bit of a relapse (woke up with
nightmare and agitationand now have the
insomnia back), is this normal? Does it
fluctuate in the first weeks?
How long is a realistic time frame to feel
better?
Thank you for letting me moan on a bit.
Wishing you all perfect health, love Vicki

I also meant to ask, is it normal to feel
really ill and tired most of the time even
when being really strict with the diet? x
Vicki.

Thank you so much for the reassurance and
advice. It's frustrating to stick to the
diet and get the same results, I was
beginning to think it wasn't working. I
have had some improvement within the first
10 days of starting the diet that has
stayed but maybe I had hoped I would feel
great by now. Guess I need more patience.
Like you its the feeling down that really
gets me. I don't feel like the person I
was before.
I contacted the biomagnetic therapist I
saw recently to say I didn't feel better
even after taking the chromium and he
suggested a retest. Sometimes one
deficiency hides another, so my chromium
levels are now normal but now I have an
osmium deficiency. Apparently it causes
nausea which I have had loads of. Hoping
taking this might make a difference.
I'm sorry to hear you had it so bad but I
am happy you have come through it, good
luck with the peas! lots of love Vicki x

The peas actually seem to be working
great. Five days is usually the maximum
to see an effect, but normally you'll get
a reaction within three and I haven't.
I'm not sure about taking chromium by
itself, it always struck me as not being a
good idea, better to get the chromium
within a supplement with other things than
alone, because taking it in large doses by
itself can in turn lead to other
deficiencies.

Glad the peas are ok. Thank you for the
concern about the chromium. I always try
to get Solgar as it seems like a quality
established brand. It was chromium
polynicotinate - niacin-bound chromium,
with vitamin B3 I think. I have stopped
taking it now and I've taken a bit less
than the amount recommended by the
therapist which was almost one bottle, so
i hope its boosted levels with out any
other effects. I do try to take multi
vitamins but it's annoying because I am
sensitve to B6 and the multivitamins all
seem to have it in large quantities. I can
take it for 2 days and then the third day
I get a nasty headache that lasts for 2
days.
Thank you for posting and keep up the good
work with the peas, lots of Love vicki x

You'd be better to get chromium from
brewer's yeast. What kind of vitamin are
you taking?

I have just started St John's Wort as I
have had nasty reactions to 5 types of
anti depressants given by my doctor.
Especially ssri's. I wish I had tried St
JW first but a doctor talked me out of it
saying that I needed something stronger.
Most days I take vit c and efamarine which
are fish oils and vit e. solgar's gentle
iron- I was anaemic at the start of the
year. Ocassionally I take something called
nutrishield (only that on thoses days,
Maybe once a week or even less) which is a
multi vitamin plus other things like
carotenoid, co-enzyme Q10. the list of
stuff goes on a bit. My mum ordered this
pack awhile ago from a service devised by
a doctor to give every type of goodness
found in food and make it into a
supplement. I have had chronic fatigue due
to gladular fever for eight years and I
was able to take the supplements for
awhile and my health did improve quite a
bit but then the b6 thing, well at least I
think that might be the problem, stopped
me taking them. But my health stayed
pretty good, not completely better but
starting to do more. That's why its so
frustrating to get this hypo thing just as
I was getting better. I think stress
really set it off, but I admit my diet was
pretty poor. Any way I take the
nutrishield now and again.
Oh and hyaluronic acid- for vanity
really.
I have had candida in the past so I am a
little cautious of yeast.
