Start Date For the Pill Question Posted: 04-24-07 00:42am
i'm about to start loestrin 24. i was
reading on the website that for day 1
start, you should start the pack on the
first day of spotting OR bleeding. here's
my problem. i started lightly spotting on
friday. i always lightly spot a good 4-5
days before i actually start my period.
should i have started the pack that day?
and even if i did the sunday start, should
i have started this past sunday? i won't
have the prescription until tomorrow. can
i still do the day 1 start tomorrow when i
actually start my full-on period and have
the pill work correctly? or start this
sunday? i just don't want to wait another
month if i don't have to. thanks in
advance.

At this point, because of the ambiguity of
your period, you can just start whenever
you want. If sunday is an easier day for
you to remember, then wait until sunday.
If not, then you can go ahead and start
tomorrow or whenever.
Because of your ambiguous period, I would
wait one full week before having
unprotected sex, but after that one week
you should be totally safe

You can start whenever. Just make sure
that you use a back up method for the
first week or so. As far as I know, the
Sunday start thing is just to help you
remember when to take it. Do what you need
to do.
