In the moment of stress, to help relieve
some symptoms. Try the following.
1. Step away from the situation.
2. Close your eyes. Relax. Sit down in a
quiet place.
3. Concentrate on your breathing.
4. Be aware of your breathing. Slow down
if you're breathing too fast.
5. Take slow, deep breaths.
6. Now, listen to everything that's around
you. The wind. Birds? any sounds?
7. Be mindful of all your surroundings.
8. Slowly bring yourself back together.
Open your eyes slowly, still being mindful
of your surroundings and breathing.
9. Do you feel more grounded? Feel more
relaxed.
10. Go back to the situation if you are
ready for a different approach. If not,
leave it and go back to it later.
This excercise is commonly used by mental
health therapists to teach patients how to
manage stress and anxiety attacks. It is
called a mindfulness excercise.
