Should I Be Worried? Help Please Posted: 04-25-07 18:42pm
for some reason, over the past week or so,
something clicked in my brain that made me
freak out over diabetes, and i can't
figure out why lol. I got a blood sugar
test kit thinger, it was a BD brand
something or other. I pricked myself with
a lancet trying to set up different
situations for myself to see if my blood
sugar increased alot, and im wondering if
my results are something to be worried
about, or if they are normal. After not
really eating anything but breakfast
(cherios, english muffin, and milk and
some canadian bacon) around 3pm my blood
sugar read 87 g/mL (i think thats the unit
of measurement). over the next couple
days, i took it every once in a while
after various things and it never went
over 110, then, as a bigger test i guess,
i ate 2 cupcakes containing 26g of sugar,
and had about 2 servings of gatorade, with
about 12 grams of sugar in each. My blood
sugar hit 138, and then was down to around
98 the next morning...is that normal? the
138 kind of shocked me.
I also took it after drinking a regular
coca cola one time, it was 111
Edit: Im almost 16, if that changes
anything, and i also noticed lately,
really since i started worrying about
diabetes, i have been urnating more than
usual, but im not sure if that is just all
in my head and im creating it or not
because it tends to feel like i have to
pee really bad but then hardly anything
comes out.

Any diabetic would be happy to have blood
sugar levels like that. You should not
check your sugar for at least an hour
after eating. If it makes you feel any
better Jim, I ate half of a banana
yesterday, and my blood sugar was 310.
Stop worrying, you are fine

Diabetes is not at all a head ache. Its
all how you take it.
In the United States alone, Diabetes
affects an estimated 18,200,000 people,
and that does not include the extimated
15,000,000 not yet diagnosed. It is at
epidemic proportions. This makes Diabetes
the third leading cause of death in the
USA!
Millions of people find out from their
family physician that a change in
lifestyles as well as having to take
prescription medications, lose weight, and
endure blood tests for the rest of their
lives is the only solution.
Even I was as much shock as you when I
came to know that I have diabetes.
Then there was a good news for me, there
is now a safe and clinically proven
effective solution to control blood
sugar!
"Diamaxol, along with a healthy lifestyle,
has been shown in clinical studies to be
99% effective for Type 2 and 64% effective
for Type 1. That's a strong claim, but we
have thousands of successful cases and a
50 points in 30 days guarantee, no
questions asked, to back it up."
isn't it cool........

Those blood sugar numbers are completely
normal. When you eat a lot of sugar or
other carbohydrates your glucose reading
will go way up. A perfectly normal person
will see their readings go to up to 140 or
150 an hour after eating a ton of sugary
stuff by itself. But it will also go right
back down to under 100 after an hour or
two. In a more mixed meal (that has fat
and protein, not just carbohydrates
(=sugar)), a 1 hour after-eating reading
around 120 would be more normal.
Generally speaking, after not eating for
10+ hours, your number should be in the
80s or 90s. Home meteres aren't very
accurate, so don't freak out over 1 or 2
higher numbers occasionally.

I wouldn't worry at all. I'd love for my
son with diabetes to have those numbers -
they're totally normal!

You don't need to worry about it. It
sounds normal to me.
