Gallbladder Surgery
Posted: 04-26-07 08:04am

I am 24 years old. Having pain under my right rib cage and it is tender to the touch. Had ultrasound and everything was normal. My Gi doc is sending my for a hida scan monday and a endoscopy. wednesday. He said he could tell that it was my gallbladder and depending on what he saw when doing the endoscopy he may send me straight to the hospital. Help Me!! What do I need to expect with all these tests/surgery.

The endoscopy is to rule out ulcers, they can mimic gallstone pain etc. I had that done the day before my surgery, The surgery itself is short. They put you under anesthesia first, when u wake up u will feel really really sore but by the next day its not so bad, u may or may not get pains in your shoulders etc wich is the air traveling up into them from the stuff they pump to inflate yer belly for the surgery but they can give u a med to help that as well. 2 weeks post surgery i felt practically back to normal, the spots they cut open were/are a little tender but thats nothing. 6 weeks is complete recovery to resume normal activities, i jumped the gun and was rearranging my living room 2 weeks after surgery lol. Not smart.
Are there certain foods that trigger the pain or is it just constant? Do u have stones? Thickened wall of the gallbladder? Hopefully it all goes well for you though Smile Got any questions lemme know i had my gallbladder removed april 5th this yr.

Well No stones on the ultrasound, They said everything looked normal. The first attack was at night and i had eaten chicken and rice for dinner. The second one i hadnt eaten anything. My dad had gallbladder disease so i guess i may have inherited it from him. i am just worried about my children I have a 4 and 2 year old. How long will it be before i can pick them up. my 2 year old is a mama's boy

Maybe it will not be so bad then. I am still scared. Never been put to sleep before. I have never even had a cavity in my mouth. But I survived childbirth twice with no pain med b/c i was scared of needles Confused Will I be able to come back to work on Monday after the Hida Scan. It is at 8:00 and i dont want to miss so much work.
