Posted: 04-26-07 19:56pm

I'm on my bed trying to sleep when I hear this noise in my ears. It like the noise when the TV is silent yet there is this buzzy noise. I think it that or either or sound similar to it get loud in my ear. Then when it get so loud, my whole body shakes. It not like a vigorous shake. I can't move AT ALL for about a minute or less and it happen a bit frequently. About every one a week or 2. I can still think when my body shakes. When it happen I was praying everything will be alright.

I couldn't sleep well and I lack sleep and end up sleeping in school often. I am a freshman in high school. I really need advice or help. Please reply or email to awula3@yaho o.com. Thank you.

What ur experiencing is sleep paralysis. You cant move because your body paralyze its self while dreaming. The reason it does this is so you dont sleep walk(act out your dream physically).
As for the buzzing part, its a hallucination. Remember your still in that dreaming state. If this happends again, you might start to actually see things.

This has been happening to me recently. Its the most terrifying experience ive ever felt. The only advice I could give you is when this happends stay calm, it normally wont last more then 30sec. Try and move your fingers and toes, then slightly regain control over your body.

If you feel pressure on your body this is normal too, try not to sleep on your back.

As for the reason why this happends. Have you been depriving ur self from sleep lately? Have you been feeling stressed out? Before you go to bed, do something relaxing, try not think of all your problems while in your bed. If your feeling afraid, sleep with your light on, or sleep with the radio/tv on for a while. Dont be scared to sleep, it only makes things worst. Good luck.

Buzzy Noise

Hey. The paralysis bit sounds spot-on (I've only experienced it a few times, but I know that it's really disconcerting), but the buzzing you hear makes me think of the ringing I get in my ears. My father blames it on loud noise (he gets it as well, and used to work in a trashcan factory when he was in college), but we both experience it. Now, I've had my share of loud noises, but I'm a drummer who always wears ear protection. So I think it's genetic since he and I have very similar skeletal/muscular structures and are the only two in the family to share the condition, if one would call it that. If what you hear is like a ringing (like the ultra-high pitched squeal of an old T.V.) that gets louder and louder as you focus on it, you might share this one.

If that's the buzzing you hear, here's what I do: I get up (I find that sitting isn't enough, I have to be on my feet for at least 10 minutes or so) and listen to a song or two while I eat starches. Bread, noodles, anything of the sort. Usually a PB&J sandwich or something simple. It's an odd solution, I know - but it works for me. Might work for you, if you're in the same boat. I think it has to do with stress, but I can't say for sure. The one thing I can advise is that, while easier said than done, don't focus on the ringing/buzzing. As soon as you notice it, get up and give yourself some external stimuli to take your thoughts off of it (that's where the tunes and starches come in for me). The more you focus on it and think about it, the more pronounced it will become. I've only experienced paralysis once in this situation, but I did tremble uncontrollably.

Hope that helps.

i have experienced the same thing over the last 4 yrs or so. and have recently discovered that i have sp as well (sleep paralysis) there isn't much that a person can do to have it go away, it can actually be pretty cool once you get used to it. i can actually fly in my dreams, wake myself up when i know i'm dreaming and it's not a good dream, wake up in my dream, etc.
as for the shaking in bed, i've had that happen to me a few times, and my husband thought i was crazy. only my side of the bed was shaking, and it kept waking me up. i looked into it, and found that along with sp is what is called "astro-projection", and it's an "out of body" experience. sounds scary, and it was for me. i actually ended up in someone elses house, and they came into their bdrm and was eating chips. it was really strange, but i was awake but sleeping. so i guess what happens is the inner being of the person, actually leaves the body and can go all over the world. the shaking may be caused from the inner self going back in to the body too quickly. it's nothing to be alarmed about Smile the more you learn the less you will be afraid of Smile always here to help Smile
