Hi I am 10 weeks pregnant and on occassion I have been experiencing some abdominal pain its right around where your appendix would be but its not a constant pain it comes and goes and its not really all that painful. I have also been experiencing some constipation maybe it has something to do with that. What can you do for constipation in pregnancy because I know you cant take fiber pills or laxatives. Please help me! Sad

drink fiber, get some extra exercise

who said you cant take fiber? if your doc said no then go by that, but my doc said i could take fiber if needed. call your doc and see what he/she suggests

as for the pain, ive had appendicitis before, that doesnt sound like appendicitis to me (it could be but it doesnt sound like it) appendicitis pain starts all over then localizes to the right side, the pain is ususaly constant and unbearable, and only gets worse with time

call you doc or go to the er if it gets worse, even if it ist appendictis it could be something else that is not good

I didnt say I couldnt take fiber I said I cant take fiber pills...big difference. I had to have fiber pills before becuase my bowels were screwed up and I still have the box here and it says not recommended for pregnant women. So thats why I said that. I know I can take fiber but not a supplement. Thats what I meant. And yes I will ask my Dr whats good for me take for constipation!

You should check with your .O.B before you take anything. If you look at the instructions on most medicines it says pregnant and nursing women should not use unless directed by a physician.

I had constipation when I was pregnant right up until my 36th week or so. Drink lots of water and eat foods that promote good bowel function. Have some prune juice and some bran flakes.
It's one of the great joys of pregnancy for some.

when i said *take* fiber i ment suppliments

like benefiber, surfack, colace, metamucil, citricil, and milk of magniesia

those are things my doc said i could take if it got really bad

obvioulsly also try to get more fiber in your diet

it even says on tylenol not to take it during prgnancy, but its widly known that you can take it

do talk to your doc before you take anything though

Exactly...they don't want you taking anything without checking it out with your doc. The drug companies don't want lawsuits if something happens.
