My fiance is not wanting a baby right now
and is afraid she might be pregnant and
I'm trying to dissuade her and calm her
nerves.
We had a short session of unprotected sex
on the night of April 5th. During the 7th
and the 8th she had a heavy period flow.
Now, this week of the beginning of May,
she is complaining about some pregnancy
symptoms including sore breasts, gas, and
frequent urination. She's very against
taking a pregnancy test.
I am thinking that since she had a heavy
flow, the chances are slim but, being a
guy, I am unsure. What's the chances or
prognosis?

i would say get a
test! as you can still have a period when
you are pregnant

You don't still have a 'period' when you
are pregnant. You can have break-thru
bleeding that some women believe to be a
period - but it is not a period and is
generally light.
Pregnancy symptoms and pms symptoms are
quite similar. This makes early pregnancy
symptoms nearly worthless, since all women
at one time or another have considered
these symptoms as pregnancy symptoms.
Wait until her period is late, then worry
and also take a test. More than likely she
is not pregnant. Don't stress about it.
Good luck!

Thanks for the confidence boost...
She spent 10 bucks on what she said was a
better, 99% test kit at the store. She
took it and she said it came out slightly
negative...meaning she had to squint to
see it.
She took a blood test today and will know
tomorrow when the doctor calls her back...

Results:
Week 1 (1 month since possible
conception):
Take home test 1: faint negative
Blood test from doctor 2 days later:
negative
She has a very light period.
She then started getting nausious alot and
had to eat saltines and only certain
foods. Her breasts grew a size and are
extremely sore to the touch. Her lower
belly got so big that she had to use
rubberbands to keep the pants together.
Naturally, I got concerned and, along with
a co-worker of hers, we were totally
convinced she was pregnant.
Week 2 (a month and a week since possible
conception):
Take home test: faint negative
Blood test from Doctor: negative.
Since then her belly shrunk and she can
now fit back into jeans. Relieved
husband-to-be but depressed fiance (she
really wanted it badly). Moral of the
story: Don't count your symptoms until
they're proven?

Can I just ask, what do you mean by a
'faint negative'? If there is no line
then it is negative but if there is a
faint second line then it is positive. So
was there a faint line?

That would be irrelevant, considering a
blood test at the doctor's office was
negative.
