Does scar tissue stretch? Posted: 05-01-07 11:31am
I have met an fire accident when i was at
17 . I have heavy scars due to the fire
accident in my right part of the hip also
in abdomon,,The scars are so thick and
doestnt have the elasticit ..,Now I am
planning to have a baby,,
My question --- Will the scars allow my
stomach to enlarge during preganacy as i
feel there is no elasticity in my scars..
And also do i need to consult a plastic
surgeon and show my scars before i get
pregnant.
I'll really need to know more about the
size of the abdominal scars before I can
speculate about how pregnancy might affect
the skin. Scars are not as elastic as
normal skin... but the healthy skin around
them can compensate for abdominal
enlargement during pregnancy. It doesn’t
seem that you will have problems from the
scars during the pregnancy. However, you
might want to consult with a plastic
surgeon about this in order to be sure.
