I Really Need Some Answers Posted: 05-03-07 18:18pm
I had a tavh 14 years ago. I went to see
my doctor the other day for a vaginal
discharge and she found a staple in my
vaginal cuff and had to remove it. Why
would this happen and are there any
concerns i should have?

wow I'm suprised you didn't have any
symptoms before now.
well, at least it has been found and
removed now.
it would sound as if the person who
removed them missed one...
wait.. staple? vaginal cuff? they don't
use staples in your vaginal cuff. They use
self dissolving stitches
have you recently had any other surguries?
possibly abdominal?
it would then sound like a staple migrated
inwards and caused irritation at your
vaginal cuff.
I wouldn't expect any further issues
either way, so long as your current doctor
has treated any infection (discharge).
**edit to add**
I just re-read your post.
you had a tavh? that isn't possible that
would translate as total
abdominal vaginal
hysterectomy
tah = total abdominal hysterectomy
tvh = total vaginal hysterectomy
