Your doctor should have gone over all of
the side effects with you before giving
you any hormonal method of birth control.
You should also get paperwork with all of
your medication's side effects on it. If
your doctor does not tell you the side
effects, you need to ask. It's important
to know this stuff. Some methods of birth
control have really serious side effects
that are a lot worse than a little weight
gain.
I do not believe weight gain was one of
the side effects listed for that
particular method of birth control, but
like I said, your ob-gyn or the paperwork
that comes with your medication are
usually the best place to check for
information.
If your doctor doesn't give you any
information when you ask, see someone
else. This is important information that
you should be getting from the doctor.
Some doctors take lots of time to sit down
and explain it all, while others don't.
Don't be afraid to shop around for ob-gyns
until you find one who you like, can talk
to, and who will actually explain things
before just shoving pills in your face and
sending you on your way.
However, keep in mind that a website is
not a replacement for a doctor. You still
should have a doctor go over all of the
side effects with you. Also make sure you
read any paperwork that you get.
