Why do I severe cramps during my period ? I'm on birth contr
Posted: 05-05-07 12:46pm

I have been taking birth control for 10 years and have never gotten pregnant. I have been with my fiance for 6 years and have been having unprotected sex for 4 of those 6 years. I take my birth control near flawlessly but there have been a few times over those years where I forget a pill or two, then double up for the next two days and have no problem. We have sex 4-5 times per week on average.

Last month, I forgot to take two pills somewhere in the first couple weeks, and when I noticed I was off, I did what I usually do, and doubled up the next two days. I got my period on schedule, but I had severe cramps this time for two days, where I usually just have manageable cramps, and one of those days, my flow was abnormally heavy.

The seventh day after my period started,(1 week ago today) I woke up early in the morning sick to my stomach and vomited a couple times (i thought it was a bad burger). No vomiting since then, but I have had a sour stomach for some of those mornings, not nause

It is not clear from your question what are you really asking. Your periods are regular due to the usage of birth control pills. The "periods" you experience while using birth control are, in fact, not really menstrual periods at all because there is no ovulation. Ovulation is blocked by the contraceptive pills. Periods without ovulation are usually painless. The abdominal cramps and sore stomach you experience during the period are probably due to some gastro-intestinal disorder (an infection maybe). It doesn't seem likely that abdominal cramps and a sore stomach are related to the genital organs. Nonetheless, you may consult your primary health provider and a gynecologist if necessary.
