Hey there! Same here! I have a dent
located at the middle of my skull. Well...
it's not really a dent because I think my
right side of my skull has sunken so once
it reaches the middle, the left part is
higher causing a bump that doesn't end. I
think my right side of skull is like this
because of the accident when I was young
which required four stitches on my right
side of my forehead.

Hi, I was just googling up "skull dent"
and I came across this forum. I don't
plan on visiting this place that often,
but I felt compelled to share my history
with you all.
I shaved my head for the first time about
12 years ago and I realized I had a small
indentation towards the back part of my
skull at the top. I never noticed it
before cause I never really felt around
back there, but ever since that day I
shaved off my hair, i've noticed it. I do
suffer from terrible migraines from time
to time, but I don't think any more so
than the next person. I think my
indentation was hereditary because my
mother has the same thing but much
smaller. I shaved my head recently again
and actually don't mind if people look at
me weird. I tend not to turn my back that
often nowadays, but it really is no big
deal. I've just come to learn that some
of us have dents, and some of us do not.
I'm just glad I'm not the only one with an
oddly shaped head

Well, here comes another one... Posted: 05-08-08 11:47am
Yesterday, I awoke to a hole in my head,
on the left backside. I felt on it all
day into the night. I had my son examine
it. I never had it there before that day.
However, after reading the response about
the steroids, I had a steroid injection
for arthritis from a pain specialist a
weeks ago. It may be that my dent came
from that. I am very concerned since I
will be traveling in a few days. I started
to panic about it and wondered if I needed
to change my plans. After reading your
responses it does give me little comfort,
but I will get it examined when I return.
I have a very ill brother at home in
Chicago, I may not see him alive if I
don't go. Put me in your prayers. Thank
you; I am glad I found this site.

Sunglasses and skull dents? Posted: 05-17-08 03:33am
I have been reading all I can find on
skull dents. I am 46 and found one near
the front of my head that runs front to
back about 2 inches and feels about a 1/4
inch deep. I learned of the possibility
there is a connection between wearing
sunglasses on top of the head and getting
this particular dent! I wear sunglasses on
the top of my head all of the time!! I
have yet to experiment to see if this is
related to the dent but I was relieved to
find that some people have had the same
dent and are avid practitioners of pushing
their sunglasses up on their head. They
correlate the dent to about where the nose
bridge is and my lines up as well. I am
not sure how this can cause such a
noticeable dent , but I will be looking
into this more myself and try going
without my sunglass habit. I thought it
might be a possible explanation for some
of you sharing this very odd new discovery
of a dent in your skulls!

Dent Skull Posted: 05-18-08 22:43pm
I'm 39 years old and I just discovered a
dent on my skull about a month ago.
Didn't think anything of it ... until
yesterday. Now there's two dents!
(Located just about an inch above my
forehead and extends about 2 inches long.)
I have a history of sinus problems (since
I was 8 years old) and just recently had a
migraine. Hadn't had a migraine in 10
years though! It was odd to have a
migraine all of the sudden so, I'm calling
for a doctor appointment tomorrow to find
out if the dents are "normal" or am I
exaggerating? It's kind of making me
nausea just thinking about it. And, my
poor son is freaking out about it, but I
tell him not to worry and it's probably
just a sinus issue I'm dealing with.
(Well, I hope anyway!)
I'm hoping someone out there may already
have some answers so I can prepare myself
before heading to the doctor.

Tender spot on Head Posted: 05-27-08 22:27pm
Hi,
have you gotten an answer for your
problem? I have a similar case and I have
even had my head/skull xray and was told
by my DR that there is nothing, but I am
still concern as each time the spot is
touch it hurts really bad.

I am 26yrs old and for
abouth the last year have had this same
issue. It started as just a small, sharp
pain very rarely throughout the day. I
first thought I had maybe a pimple or
ingrown hair so I used a handheld mirror
to check the top of my head where the pain
was coming from. What I saw was a small
red patch, however the red patch was about
1/2 inch away from where the pain was
coming from.
Just about a month ago I was washing my
hair and just about shot through the roof
when I went over the area because it was
so sharp and tremendous pain. I went to a
dermatologist, she said nothing was
there(the red patch had gone away). She
said it might have just been a clogged oil
gland where the red patch was and she
didn't see anything where the pain was
coming from. Now for the past couple
weeks, the pain is getting to be constant
and much more intense, I almost feel like
the surronding area of my scalp is numb
and all I can feel is that sharp, pain
which is now an area about three times the
size of what it was initially. I am really
starting to get nervous and am going to
have to schedule a DR. appointment because
I am having ice pick headaches, but only
on the left side of my head, which is the
same side the pain is on. The dent is
becoming more prominent. This past week now
I have started having pain and twitching
in my left eye and as crazy as this may
sound, when I put even a small amount of
pressure on the area, I get a sharp pain
inside my left inner ear. This has got to
be nerve related.
I have read each of the posts ahead of me
and I am sure I will get the same puzzled
looks from the dr. when I try to explain
this. Just wondering, if anyone else
experiencing this is on any type of
prescription medication? I take 2 and was
maybe wondering if that had anything to do
with it!? I will post after I see a dr. to
notify all of you what they
say!

dent in head Posted: 06-10-08 18:29pm
I, too, wonder about this. I had a dent
form out of nowhere, on my forehead at my
hairline. I think, too, that it is
lengthening some. The neurosurgeon felt
that, since there was no head trauma, it
must be a skull tumor but nothing showed
up on scans. I have had a scan each Fall
and, so far, nothing is showing up. I do
get headaches sometimes but nobody seems
to know why. So far, it seems to be
nothing serious but when I get a longer
headache (like, now, I've had one for
about 3 days) or something, it always
makes me worry about the dent - like,
could it be an anneurism or tumor
starting, or whatever. My bangs pretty
much cover it which helps. If anybody
finds out more, let me know. (My first
reaction from doctors was asking if I was
sure I hadn't always had this. My
forehead used to be perfectly normal.
This just occurred out of nowhere, and I
noticed initially because it became
sensitive when I'd brush or comb my hair.)
Thanks.

Dent in skull Posted: 06-13-08 17:47pm
Thanks to all that have posted. I
recently discovered a dent in my skull
large enough that my index finger can rest
in it, just in the past two days. It is a
little tender to the touch, but maybe
because I keep feeling it. I also have
noticed that it gets larger as the day
goes on. I have not felt well for the
past week, but not really been able to pin
point why I don't fell well. My headache
are off and on, but usually will decrease
with a little sleep. I have been swelling
a lot over the past couple of years and
had some fluctuation with my circulation
from the right side of my body compared to
the left. By the way my indention is on
the left. I would be really interested to
hear more about the reference to nutrition
and the dent getting small that Holly was
talking about. I will keep looking into
it!

Dent in head Posted: 06-23-08 21:57pm
I too found a dent in my head on the right
side. It is smaller in the morning and
depending on my day, it can get bigger
with one side elevated a little.
Holly, back in 2006, noted that she found
that her's was due to Gluten Intolerance.
I am GI, but can't get it out of my life
completely. So I wonder if, GI creates
sinus issues..because I have them also and
perhaps it is fluid on the brain which
increase and decreases. It is very freaky.
I also have a bad habit of sunglasses on
head. Had been searching the net and found
a DR. that said as we age the skull
sutures loose integrity and that we all
have fluid which can increase and
decrease, he said something about sinus
too, but I can't find the site again.
Anyone else have Gluten Intolerance and
sinus issues?

skull dent diagnosis? Posted: 08-06-08 20:06pm
Hello everyone, I also have my mother
going through the same thing. About a
month ago she felt a small dent in her
head we all joked about it but as a few
weeks passed by she realized it got bigger
and she also found another one. She has
been going to the doctor to get an answer
but nothing yet. She doesn't have
headaches or nausea but she does have the
shock feeling its very light but
bothersome. She got a bone scan in the
past week and it turned out abnormal but
they want her to get more x-rays and see a
neurologist. Has anyone found out what it
could be? This really has us worried, if
anyone knows anything please let me know.

skull dents Posted: 09-09-08 21:08pm
Hi everyone. I'm 38 years old. About 4
years ago I noticed a dent on the right
side of my head positioned along my
hairline. It was about one inch long and
hasn't grown much.
I have not experienced any major headaches
or illnesses. I was a little nervous and
confused when I discovered the dent. I
wear my head bald and have done so since
1999. At first I thought the dent was a
result of having a bald head for so many
years. I was wrong. Two years ago during
my annual physical I pointed it out to my
Doctor and asked him if he knew what was
causing it. His rebuttal was " as we get
older our skulls may or may not begin to
separate "
Of course, deep in my heart, I did not
believe him. I have no idea why the dent
is there, but I certainly don't think it's
coming from "getting older''.
If someone on this forum finds out any new
info, please share it with me.

Skull Dent Posted: 09-17-08 16:13pm
My experience is very similar to Serenity
08....I used to get the electric shock
feeling in my teens and twenties
periodically....it would usually go along
with my "hair hurting" which sounds weird,
but it was really just sensitivity on the
scalp which would be irritated when I
touched my hair.
It occurred either when I was sick or wore
a hat for a long time. ( I have a big head
and most hats are way too tight...they
tend to restrict blood flow to my
scalp...and probably more than that...)
Well I'm 38 now and haven't had it in a
long time...but the pain fired up again a
couple days ago...I have a shaved head
now, so yes I notice a dent at the worst
location...which I'm sure was most likely
there when I was younger, but couldn't
notice....
Not that I'm a doctor, but I do not
believe it a serious problem, to all those
worrying...I've had it before and it
always resolved, and anyone on this post
that has had serious tests done has had
nothing found.
I believe that there are a combination of
factors that most likely make this occur.
I think that sinus congestion and/or
susceptibility to migranes is one
contributing factor ..... as most people
complaining are showing one or both of
those problems...and most of the time I
get it I have sinus issues.
Of course it doesnt happen everytime I
have sinus issues...so there must be
something else....I'm fascinated by those
reporting issues with the head
muscles...and their possible relation to
diet and/or steroid use.....
I eat like crap, so it would be no
surprise to me if one of the magic
combinations for my occurrences is vitamin
deficiency causing some head muscle issue,
combined with the sinus pressure to
produce the head dent/electric shock
disease....(HDESD)
If anyone finds anything conclusive please
post....I'm going to address my sinus
issues and start taking some vitamins....

Skull dent. Posted: 09-21-08 05:55am
Hello, im 18 years old and i have had a
dent in the back top of my head ever since
i can remember. the only time i have ever
had trouble with it is just recently. i
have been very stressed lately and im not
sure if that has anything to do with it?
The dent in my head is something that my
mother also has. recently it has been
painfull to lay on my head and sleeping is
getting uncomfortable. Today i decided to
look here on the internet because im
worried and want to figure out as much as
i can before i even go to the hospital.
the dent on the top back of my head seems
to be softer towards the middle of the
dent. the nurves seem to react when i
touch it, and it feels kind of like a
headache. i have a pretty bad headache
right now and i don't want to touch the
dent because its too painful.. i don't
want to go to sleep like this. its really
scareing me, and i wish i knew more about
it. please messge me back if you know
anything that might help.
