ON 4-29-07 I POSTED MY SYMPTOMS, I HAVEN'T
HEARD FROM ANYBODY. I AM HAVING MORE
PROBLEMS NOW. THREE TO FOUR DAYS LAST
WEEK, I COULDN'T DO VERY MUCH, I LAID
AROUND ALL THE TIME AND SLEPT A LOT.
USUALLY I HAVE PROBLEMS SLEEPING. I'VE
BEEN HAVING STRANGE HEADACHES, NO FEVER
BUT FEEL FEVERISH. I AM REALLY TIRED ALL
THE TIME, HARDLY ANY ENERGY. AM VERY
IRRITABLE, MEMORY LOSS, HAVE PROBLEMS
RECALLING THINGS, EVEN HOW TO SPELL SIMPLE
WORDS, A FEW TIMES I WENT BLANK TRYING TO
REMEMBER MY KIDS NAMES, EVERYTHING WENT
BLACK. PAIN BEHIND MY EYES. MAINLY THE
LEFT. AT TIMES I HAVE BREATHING PROBLEM. I
THOUGHT IT WAS BRONCITIS, BUT THE
ANTIBIOTICS DID NO GOOD. AT TIMES I HAVE A
STRANGE FEELING OVER MY BODY, LIKE BEING
SHOCKED OR A WEIRD TINGLY FEELING, MY
TONGUE EVEN FEELS TINGLY AND LIKE THE
SIDES ARE CURLING UPWARD, WHICH EFFECTS MY
SPEACH. I FEEL BAD ALL THE TIME. I AM
DIZZY, AND FEEL FAINT AT TIMES.
2-3 YEARS AGO, I HAD A MRI, IT SHOWED A
SPOT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BRAIN. I WAS
SENT TO A NEUROLOGIST, HE DID THE EXAM,
SAID I DIDN'T HAVE MS AND SENT ME ON MY
WAY. I HAVEN'T BEEN BACK FOR A RE-CHECK.
WHAT KIND OF DOCTOR DO I NEED TO SEE? I
HAVE BEEN TO A DOCTOR SEVERAL TIMES, THEY
SAY IT IS ANXIETY, IF IT IS I'VE HAD IT
SINCE I WAS A CHILD AND IT IS GETTING
WORSE. I AM SO TIRED OF DOCTORS NOT
HELPING ME. I HOPE SOMEBODY CAN HELP!
THANKS.

Hi Teresa,
Doctors who dismiss symptoms without
trying to find out what's causing them are
too numerous. Keep trying. There are
some good doctors out there who will do
everything in their power to help but it
may take some time. As one doctor
described 'all in your head to me' -
imagine a 300 lb healthy strapping man who
faints at the sight of blood. The blood
doesn't have any contact with him, however
he physically reacts to the sight of it.
Something is causing your symptoms and you
need to find out what - no matter what it
is. Keep trying - don't give up on
yourself. Keep a symtom diary and include
other things going on in your life, ie
emotions, diet, exercise. Even get other
family or friends comments (even ones you
don't agree with). You may see a pattern.
Take this to your doctor - give him/her a
copy of your diary and ask for a complete
work up. You have a right to medical
care, either you, your insurance, or your
health care system is paying for it.
Hang in there.

Hi teresa-sorry to hear of your troubles.
If your MRI is 2-3 years old and showed a
spot on it then, my suggestion would be to
contact a different neurologist and have a
repeat scan to be sure it's not ms. A
spot onyour MRI should have prompted them
to do additional testing, such as lab
values and possibly an examination of your
cerebral spinal fluid. Another thing
which comes to mind is possibly a thyroid
problem. Even if your problem turns out
to be "all in your head" (which I doubt)
it still deserves to have respect given
and a possible treatment found, even if it
is cognitive therapy.
