My Night

i always have interesting stories to come home with on friday nights lol

last week it was the flat tire.

and now

i was working the register tonight, and this couple came through and they bought bottles, so i rang em up and everything seemed fine. about 10 minutes later a guy came up and hes like 'i need you to follow me, whenever we catch female shoplifters we have to have a female witness present' i was like "hahaha sweeeeet" and i said that too lol

so i walk in and it's this couple! they stuffed the diaper bag with little swimmers, trunks, rattles, sun glasses for the kids, and toys. all of it was for the kids, they had 4 tiny ones. they were crying and giving all of their information and telling each other how much they love each other and telling the kids "mommy and daddy are going to jail" and it made me have tears in my eyes, it was so sad, the little boys looked so sad because their mommy and daddy were going to jail.

so i sat in there for like an hour and i got to listen to all of this and i was text messaging all of my friends telling them what was going on haha it was so fun.

it made me kind of want to be a social worker, they were talking about getting their kids taken away, and it made me think.. well i want to work with kids, i want to help people, i want to make a difference, i love telling people what to do or what they should do with their kids/life Very
Happy so why not? i just told my mom this and she said 'terra you'd be takin kids home every night' hahaha. shes right.

anyway, i just thought i'd let you know. i loved it, it made my day better as sad as that sounds.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for criminals, but at least the stuff they were trying to steal was for the kids. My husband's store has people that try to steal liquor by stuffing it in the strollers next to their babies.

I don't think it's right at all that they upset their children on purpose. What was the point of telling their kids "mommy and daddy are going to jail" and terrifying them? That's so selfish. I can understand being scared, but what gives someone the right to make their children feel bad?

They should have thought about going to jail and leaving their kids alone before they stole the stuff. It's not like they were stealing formula or things that they really needed - little swimmers and kids' sunglasses aren't staples. I can honestly say that I don't feel very much pity for them. If they can't afford the stuff then that's unfortunate and I can appreciate wishing you could provide your child with nice things, but that doesn't give you the right to steal it. If you were trying to put food in your child's mouth it still wouldn't be right, but I could sympathize.

I love the excitement too .terra lol. But i hate these type of situations. Poor kids don't really understand what the heck is going on.

This gets me to thinking about this incident that happened here a few years ago. This man walked into a store and was caught shoplifting a bag of diapers and/or formula. He put up a fight and suffered a heart attack.

He died Crying
or Very sad

damn! that's nuts!

i don't feel bad for them either, especially since the man was on parole for burglary and they both said they've been caught before.

well um don'tcha think it'd teach ya a lesson the first time around?

I feel bad for their kids though. Why would they put them in that position to be without their parents? And then scare the crap out of them by saying "mommy and daddy are going to jail"? That angers me off. No parent should do that to their child.

They were probably saying it hoping that your store wouldn't proceed in pressing charges. Trying to put a guilt trip on.

.Terra I think you would be a great social worker. You have a big heart and you see the big picture.

I'm glad .i'm not the one that was handling that. I would have snapped and said something and probably been fired for it. How dare they? Evil or
Very Mad worthless people don't deserve their children if they feel like they can screw with their emotions that way.

thank you! Smile

and yeah, eric, the security guy was like "don't tell them that, you're just going to get them worked up!"

so then the dad started saying "were going to a park" but then the kids were like "we wanna go to the park!" lol

im thinking of looking up everything about a social worker, i'd love to help kids get into better homes, or help people better themselves. Laughing yay

It's a frustrating job for sure. It's great when you get a family or person who really wants to do better, but it sucks when they say they'll do something and don't or lie about what they do.
I would never want to work in child or adult protective. I couldn't deal with what I may see.
