I Appreciate the Thought... Posted: 05-12-07 13:08pm
we got a package from nick's mom today and
it was mostly stuff for finn. there were a
bunch of *adorable* summer outfits... in
size 6-9 months. he's in 12 month clothes
and some stuff (like shorts) i buy in 18
months. nick says he tells her what size
he's in but now i don't know if he's lying
or if she's ignoring it.
i appreciate the thought and the gift but
it's annoying to have to always go
exchange them, especially since there's no
receipt. this time i just happen to know
the brand is from kohl's, but last time
they were from toys r us and you can't
return stuff there without a receipt so
all the clothes went to waste in his
closet.
it's annoying but i'm also looking forward
to exchanging them, there were some really
cute things in there!
i hope i don't sound ungrateful! i'm just
wondering why she can't get it in her head
that finn is ginormous.

Have you tried to talk to her at all?maybe
call and tell her in a nice way that there
is no way those will fit him but you love
the clothing and the thought!

You should definitely call her and tell
her you appreciate her gift! Then mention
the size of clothes he wears. Sizing can
be confusing (especially to grandparents
who don't see the baby all the time)
because you'd think that 6-9 months would
fit a 6-9 month old. That isn't always the
case.
I'm positive she would not have sent
clothes that she knew wouldn't fit. She
would want to know for the next time.
Maybe just mention he grows really fast,
or that he has had a recent growth spurt.

I would probably say something to the
effect of...
"thank you for the clothes! They're
adorable! Where did you find them? I've
been looking everywhere for (describe one
of the outfits). Do you recall if they had
them in *such and such* size? Finn's
outgrown 6-9 month clothing and .I'd love
for him to wear this."
or, you know, something like that.

aw grandmas are silly.
im sure nick didn't lie about telling
her.. she probably just forgot and then
assumed "well he's between 6-9 months,
i'll get him that.
i seriously thought that's the way it went
like 2 months ago but mandi had to set me
straight lol

aw at least you can exhange them. i am the
only person who has ever bought my
kids clothes my
grandma knit one cardigan for layla when
she was first born but that's it.
neil, my mum, neils mum and the rest of my
family have never bought any
clothes for them.
my mum is the only person who has bought
them toys too (and that was only for
christmas and birthdays)
better to have clothes and have to
exchange them than to have to go out and
buy all your child's clothes yourself.
I'd just be happy to be able to exchange
them, but then again i am on a tight
budget and well...i am greatful anything i
can get.
on a funny note....
my grandma bought size three diapers from
the day amelia was born. so for the
last...lets just say 10 months i have
gotten approx 40 packs of size three
diapers. No matter how many times i told
her she still bought size three....no that
she is in three's i have told her that we
need size 4. LOL

well, i just got home and nick was on the
phone with her when i was walking in and i
heard him go, "no, seriously! he's huge!
we put him in 12-18 month clothing!"
so that's taken care of. i'm going to go
exchange them tomorrow.

I'm glad. She probably wished
she'd have bought the right size for him,
but I bet she will next time!
