Grandmother's Death Questionable?? Posted: 05-14-07 09:15am
my grandmother spent 6 weeks in a nursing
home following a minor car accident in
which she broke a few ribs and was very
very emotionally touched by it. she is 74
years old and only weighs 75 lbs. she is a
very fragile woman. she then was released
from the nursing home on Tuesday may 9th.
she was in wonderful condition, walking,
talking and laughing. she was even able to
walk around the grocery store for over an
hour. my mother and i went to visit friday
because she wasn't picking up the phone
and we found her slumped over in her chair
unresponsive and very dehydrated. we
called 911 and she was rushed to the
hospital. when she went to the hospital
they found out she had a bowel
obstruction. the surgeon came in and
decided that if she went into surgery she
would never make it out. now they had her
on fluids, and oxygen at this point. they
took her off fluids, kept her on oxygen
and now she is just on morphine to make
her comfortable...its been 2 days now and
she still has not passed. is this
ethically correct? i am trying to figure
out how someone can just change so much in
3 days and its scary. thanks

i'm sorry to hear this, i hope you're
handling it okay *huggles*
but sometimes people go each day acting
like they're fine until they can't take it
anymore.. it happened to my great
grandmother.
