Q: How Do I Know If He Is Growing Right?

I am 25 weeks pregnant. All my doctor does when he comes in the room is check the baby's heartbeat. I read about fundus height? I am not even sure, But I want to know how do I know the baby is growing right??

The reason why is because the last time I went for an ultrasound, they said he was a little small. That was at 17 weeks. I asked my doctor is he wants to schedule me for another ultrasound and he said I don't need to go unless they think there is a problem.

I am nervous because I am 25 weeks and not a soul can tell that I am pregnant. It's so agravating. Someone, how do I know if my baby is growing right if my doctor hasn't told me?

Sorry to go on for so long but it's on my mind alot lately.
thankyou, katie

all my doc ever did at that stage was check the heartbeat and sometimes the fundus height

i did get have 6 ultrasounds however, one was at 7 or 8 weeks (not by my doc, from a crisis pregnancy center that did my initial test) then one at 12 weeks, then 3 around 20 something weeks (i think it was 21, 24, and 27 or 28 but im not sure 100%) but that was because they thought she might have downs and couldnt get pictures of everything they needed (i also had an amni at the 21 week one) then again at 37 weeks (i think, it was recently) to be sure she was head down cause they couldnt tell

the baby measuring a little small isnt that big of a deal, he/she may not have hit a certain groth spurt yet or maybe your dates were a little off or maybe it was just the positioning, or maybe your baby is just petite...there are lots of reasons

ive actualy measured about a week big (fundus height) until about 28 weeks or so...then i started measuring 2 weeks big lol...but thats because she is long

try not to worry so much, if the baby looked fine on the last ultra sound and the doc isnt concerned i dont think there is too much to worry about...i know it can be hard to do but just try to relax a bit

sorry this went on so long, im tired and rambly lol

If you have concerns like that you should make sure to bring them up to your doctor at your next visit. I don't know what your doctor is like but mine is usually pretty good at answering all my questions and setting my mind at ease when I have concerns. Maybe at your next visit the doc will start checking the fundal height anyway, but if I were you I would ask about it and mention that you've been worried about it. I find it helpful sometimes to write down questions I have in between appointments because they always seem so rushed and I always end up thinking about things 5 minutes after the appointment is over!! Small babies don't neccessarly mean unhealthy babies, my little girl is always measuring 3-4 weeks smaller than she should be so they booked me in for a growth scan and she's fine just going to be small. Do small babies run in your family? because they run in both mine and .Dom's so that's why .Mika's predicted to be so small
