When can you test for pregnancy after ovulation ? Posted: 05-17-07 08:54am
alright so if someone can explain this to
me.
ive done alot of research and still i cant
seem to answer this question. Ok so i
understand that if your trying to get
pregnant then you should wait till your
ovulating which is typically 14 days after
the first day from the start of your
cycle. ok so if a typical cycle is 28 days
thats right in the middle of your cycle.
and lets say i have sex the day before i
ovulate and i do get pregnant..but it says
that you have to have a missed period..so
i guess my question is that after only 2
1/2 weeks you can find out your pregnant?
or may it take longer to have your homones
build up for the pregnancy test?
sorry if this seems like a silly question
but most of my friends that find out their
pregnant are atleast 4 weeks along which i
thought it typically took 4-5 weeks before
the hormones and symptoms show..lol.
if you can explain this to me that would
be terrific!
thanks!

Well, technically 2 weeks ovulation
(around when your period would be due) you
are technically 4 weeks pregnant (2 weeks
gestation) Because how far along you are
is based off the first day of your last
period, not when you ovulated. I know,
confusing.
That being said. Some woman can get a bfp
11-12 days after ovulation. But many woman
won't have a positive until their period
is due or late. So 14 days+. Every woman
is different so it could show at any time
around when your period is due.
Are you late?
P.s. you ovulate 14 days before
your next period, not after.

lol Ive been reading some of the latest
posts on here and you're such a sweetie!
ooh ok thanks so much for that info! it
makes sense then! im not late..i had my
period for 4 days 5/7 (usually its longer)
and for the past week i had brown
discharge (sorry TMI!) and i know that
sometimes women can have a "period" but
its not really a period since you arent
releasing an egg. buuut i know im not
pregnant. i have some symptoms but i think
i may just be having some digestive
problems. (again sorry if TMI!) thats good
to know about the 14 days before
your next period.
my periods are just completely out of wack
and although my husband and i arent
preventing getting pregnant we arent ready
just yet lol.well HES not ready but
ofcourse my hormonal instinct and my love
of children i want a baby NOW! lol so i
refuse to go out of my way to prevent
having one. we got pregnant unexpectantly
last august and it devestated us since we
werent married yet and i was the only one
with a full time job at the time so i
think hes very scared that our financial
problems will happen again if we
tried..but now circumstances are different
and money is better. he says we should
wait 5 years..it makes me super sad when
he says this cuz before we got married he
knew within the next 2-3 years i want to
start trying... anyways i ramble! sorry!
also that site that was referred by
someone on here www.MyMonthlyCycles.com i just started it today and it gives me
a calandar of my ovulating time and
menstrating time..so i hope it gives me a
good insight into my period FINALLY lol.

Charting your basal body temperature is a
great way to understand your body. It will
help you pinpoint (or at least het a
better idea of when) you should be o'ing
to you know when to bd.
I assume you know that it takes a healthy
couple around 12 months to conceive. But
not always. Sometimes, it is much sooner.
Will you husband be happy if you do become
pregnant sooner than he planned?

He was excited last time but it was a
tough time for us. I mean he was looking
for a job and i had a great job as a nanny
that paid very well and so it seemed when
we found out that it was going to be great
untill we reversed rolls and i lost my
"great job" and he got hired with a great
job but not making as much so we had to
move into my father in laws house for a
bit . so i think that he thinks that will
happen again. So honestly i have no clue
what he will be. i hope he would be happy
but who really knows. it definatly has
shocked me that hes changed his mind but
no worries ill get my way..it doesnt help
that i am a nanny have watch a 5 month old
all day..makes me want to have one lol.
but ya i read about the 12 month thing.
thanks so much mc!!
