Should I Wait to Treat Yeast Infection? Posted: 05-17-07 13:07pm
I have a kidney infection that has been
treated with antibiotics for a week now. I
just started getting a yeast infection
and I know it's
from the medication. I still have one week
of antibiotics to take. So, should I wait
to start treating the yeast infection
because it might come back within this
week of antibiotics, or just treat it
anyways.

It might not be due to the antibiotics, so
you should certainly talk to your doctor
and begin treatment for the yeast
infection.

I don't have a doctor right now, that's
why I figured I would ask on here first. I
am not diabetic, I'm not a back to front
wiper, my husband and I haven't had sex in
well over a month, I don't use douches and
harsh soaps, I only wear cotton undies and
no thongs anymore, and I usually air dry
after showering. I typically get one a
year so I know I have to be gentle with
her. So, lets say (hypothetically) if it
were from the antibiotics; if I treat it
now, could it just come right back with
the the next week of antibiotics? Thanks

I have no idea. How could the antibiotics
be causing it? By killing bacteria in your
vagina, thus allowing more yeast to grow?
If that's the case then yes, treating it
now will probably just result with you
getting another yeast infection. But if
there is some other cause, you may just be
giving yourself a week of torture you
don't need.
How did you get antibiotics without a
doctor?

went to the ER for incredible fever and
pain throughout my body. Found out I had
the kidney infection and they prescribed
antibiotics for me. Yes, antibiotics will
sometimes cause women to have yeast
infections.

I have moved this back to the womens
conditions because it is talking about a
yeast infection. Not a kidney problem.
I suggest that you treat the yeast
infection now. It can become very painful.
To help in preventing it from returning,
you should eat active culture. It is the
good bacteria that we need in our system.
They come in many yogurts (just look for
live culture on them) Or you can go to a
health store and buy them. They can come
in packets to mix with food or in pill
form. They should be stored in their
refrigerator.

on here advising women with yeast
infections to put yogurt in their vaginas
