Is there anyway you could have a minor
infection? I know bacterial vaginosis and
even yeast infections can make annual
exams a bit uncomfortable. Mine have
always hurt when I have had them done and
I have always had cramping for several
days after the pap. My doc told me I am
just a bit more sensitive.

I had my first smear test yesterday. It
was very painful and I now have a stabbing
pain in the vagina when I urinate.
Although I told the gynaecologist that I
had never been sexually active, she said
that it would still me useful to do a
smear. I had a full bladder, as she needed
to do an ultrasound scan too, and it's
best to have a full bladder for those, but
she decided to do the smear first. The
speculum wouldn't go in (very painful),
nor her finger (very painful), so she
stuck the stick in and pulled it back out.
God. It was $#@^& sore! When she told
me to tell her if it was sore, I expected
her to stop, but no. She carried right
on.
She seemed to think that there must be
some kind of medical problem, but I
certainly felt a lot better before I went
in than I do now! I am pretty sure that I
was simply too tense as it was my first
test and I was scared to let go with a
full bladder.
I'll be looking for another practitioner
in future!

Um why did you have to get a pap smear if
you are not sexually active? How old are
you? But why an ultrasound either?? That
sounds strange to just out of the blue
need an ultra sound no? About them being
painful omgoodness how can the dr's call
them uncomfortable?? Honestly kicking your
toe .. THAT is uncomfortable.. for me a
pap smear/ internal is THE WORST PAIN
EVER!! I am pregnant and had a internal
yesterday and that thing they insert to
open you up I was close to tears, I don't
see how I can indure labour haha.

I needed to do an ultrasound to check the
fibroids I'd already been diagnosed with.
She also told me I had a retroverted
uterus. So she knew that before she tried
to do the pap smear. As to needing a
smear, I asked her the same question, but
she said it would still be useful. I think
she just wanted to go exploring, to be
honest. I thought afterwards that if I
can't stand being poked with a cocktail
stick... what chance do I stand with
anything else, let alone childbirth! LOL
Congratulations on your pregnancy,
worriedauzi! At least the 'discomfort',
will be well spent. You'll get a whole lot
more out of it than just a gurning gyno
standing at the end of the bed!

A pap smear is very as they say
'uncomfortable', Don't worry sex does not
feel like a pap smear as a pap smear goes
up much furthur and much more inrtusive.
Thanks yeah I gave birth after 20 hours of
labour I hurt everywhere haha. Yeah as for
childbirth if I have any other children it
will be by elective C-section I will not
go through that again.
