I have had type one diabetes for eight
years and have just now developed itchy
skin on my lower legs. The itching is so
intense that I scratch and the skin breaks
easily thereby causing slow healing sores
that leave scars. Also my scalp itches
and the same scenerio. Any
recommendations for the legs and scalp. I
am presently using anti-dandruff shampoo
and have tried nizarol on the scalp to no
avail. I have tried treating the sores
with antibiotic cream as well. What's up
with all this itching? Am I the only
one???

Hello, I have type 1 diabetes (27 years) I
too have terrible itchy skin on lower legs
which I can not stop scratchng, then
causing wounds leaving scars. I use aloe
vera to try to calm the itchy skin which
has helped to a certain degree. I had
the problem investigated several years ago
but the specialists could not arrive at
any diagnosis. However the only time I
get any relief is after summer holidays
being in the sun and sea then around the
winter time it starts all over as it has
now

My mom had this same problem. We tried a
magnetic showerhead, and the dry cracking
skin on her feet and legs cleared up after
about a week.
Something to do with the changing of the
properties of the water.
Email me at nardo4l
ife@yahoo.Com and I can dig up were we
got it. It had a 90 day money back
guarantee, so we had nothing to lose.

I use selsun blue for my scalp; nothing
else works for me. I also use the wally
world brand of eucerin for my body. Its
not greasy, and the effects last for
days.
Good luck.

I have type 11 diabetis and for about a
month now have the most itchy skin and
scalp. It drives me krazy. I scratch my
legs open and my arms till they bleed but
they keep itching. I bought benidril
cream which gives me some relief for a
short time. I don't know what is causing
it and the dr doesn't seem to know either.

are a partener of an out standing wellness
company. They have so much great stuff
which I can't say on here but all the
prouduct are all natural and boy do they
work. There shampoo is so good I no
longer have any itching head and they have
this one cream that works wonders for
everything like extreme dry skin and
excema soriosus . My feet were so dry
and cracked they were horrible to look at
but since I have been using this awsome
cream they look so normal I don't mind
when other people can see them. So
please feel to contact me and we can go
from there. This company has over 350
prouduct and they are all super.

I have had itchy scalp for about 8 weeks.
I have T2 and on Metformin. My
dermatologist could not figure out what
the problem is and has put me on
anti-pruritis and anti-histamine
medications. My blood glucose is in
control and he seems to think it was a
shampoo or hair dye I have been using for
10 years. He never looked at my isolated
itchy spots on my body: back, legs. The
topical sometimes work, sometimes not. It
seems to work better with the red itchy
spots. I also have symptoms of urination
urgency, but my psa is normal, or very
slightly elevated, 4.2. The medicated
shampoo sometimes heap with the itching
but not a lot.
My questions are: Is there any blood test
to diagnose this itch? Any allergen test
that I can request to be done? I know it
could be from dry skin, but I also use a
cream specifically for diabetes. I read
about not taking a hot bath or not
scratching. It is hard to do, especially
when one is sleeping; scratch, scratch,
scratch. I have never had this problem in
my life, and I am trying to figure out
what the cause is, a number of
possibilities:
- diabetic dry skin, not controlled
- growing cactus as a hobby and eating
their fruit, tunas, to lower glucose level
(prickly pear) and got pricked quite a bit
in the process
- some kind of food allergy
- allergy to dust in my house, full of
clutter
- stress and emotional outburst
- working and painting my cars, the
material and paint used
- drug side effects: I now take seven
everyday, three for T2, 2 for depression
(Double Ds), one anti-histamine and one
anti-pruritis Rx. The liver might have a
hard time breaking them down and detox.
- a combination of symptoms
