Update *** Got Back From Doctor !

My doctor's office called me today about
my results. Only thing is, the nurse
wouldn't tell me anything over the phone.
When I had it done they said that if
everything was fine they would tell me but
if they found anything they would call me
in to come and talk to the doctor. I just
don't want there to be anything wrong but
if there is at least we can find out and
maybe fix it. Pray for me girls. I will be
going in Wednesday morning.

I am sorry you got that type of a call. I
hate that...The good news is that whatever
the results are they can now help you
accordingly. I am praying for you and I
have a good feeling it will be fine. Hang
in there.

It would be really funny if I was actually
pregnant when I went in, but I don't
expect that. She said that everything
looked fine but they found one little
thing, come on can't you tell me!

It'd be great if that "one little thing"
was a little bean
but .i'm not trying to get your hopes up.
I hope that they can offer you some
answers! The fact that you got pregnant
earlier this year is a hopeful sign, I
think. Keep us updated, hon!

you'll get your bfp next month.

So Here It Goes

Well, sorry to disappoint anyone but
there's no little bean. I did get a lot of
confirmations to some things that I have
suspected for a while. First off, my
thyroid is just messed up. My tsh was 0.01
and it should be .3-3, why means I am
hyperthyroid. I have thought that I had a
thyroid problem since I was a teenager and
I finally got my confirmation. I am so
tired of feeling tired. What's funny is I
have a lot of symptoms of hypo (weight
gain, fatigue) but I am hyper. I did some
research though and there are some people
that have these symptoms with hyper too.
Everyone is just different.
Hyperthyroidism also causes light or
absent periods so that is part of the
reason I have been barely bleeding and not
having a period sometimes.
Now to the next part. They did a female
hormone panel and to my shock .... I have pcos. I
kinda had a feeling since my ultrasound in
februrary that I had this. I started
researching heavily about everything so I
am glad to know what's wrong now. Initial
evaluation of this (as some of you know)
requires checking the levels of LH and FSH
(Follicle Stimulating Hormone). In a
normal person the ratio should be 1:1. A
ratio of 2:1 or higher is indicative of
pcos. Well, my LH was 8.6 and my FSH was
3.1, so my ratio is 2.77:1. So, yes I do
have it.
My doctor's plan of action was to get more
conclusive tests for my thyroid, which he
did today. He wants to get that to going
first since thyroid problems are linked to
miscarriages and also for my health and
well being. Then when we figure that out,
he is going to start me on clomid. In
doing this, I will undergo monthly
ultrasounds and bloodwork to make sure I
ovulate.
It seems like I have a long road ahead but
he's thinking we may get to start the
clomid next month. I love my doctor so
much. I had to keep pushing to get
everything done but now that he knows
something is wrong he is going full force
to fix it. Maybe this will all end in me
not being nearly as tired as I am though.
I went for an interview monday so I had to
get up at like 6 in the morning and by 3
pm I was passed out on the couch. It's
gotten worse in the last few weeks. I will
keep you guys updated! Thanks for your
thoughts.

Wow....sorry hun. At least you know what
your facing now. The thyroid thing (from
what I understand) can be easily delt
with. But the pcos isn't as easy. They're
putting you on clomid for it? My doctor
told me that because I have a history of
cysts that any ovulating stimulant
wouldn't be an option.

Well, if I'm not put on clomid I probably
won't get pregnant. It's different if you
have pcos because the reason you have the
cysts is because your hormones are out of
wack. Your FSH is low so your follicles
aren't maturing yet your LH is high
telling your body to release something
that isn't there. It's very complicated. I
have done a lot of research and I am by no
means an expert but this is the course of
action for women with pcos. When you
eventually go for some bloodwork if your
cycle is still screwed up ask for a LH and
FSH on CD3. This will let them know if you
have pcos. With all they cysts you've been
known for it might be a good idea to check
it just to see. I know I may get more
cysts but I am going to have them anyways
thanks to my condition. If you go online
and start researching you will see what I
mean. My symptoms just fit with everything
I read and I cramp like all month long.

Honestly, I always thought I had it. But
it is a common misconception that you have
to be obese to have it. And my last doctor
basically laughed when I brought it up
(hense why I changes dr's) But, I will
hopefully get to see a specialist in the
next few months who will be more agressive
then my current doctor. (who said no
ovulation stimulants).
I hope it all works out for you and you
get your bfp soon!

Thanks! There are a couple of girls on
here who have it and clomid and metformin
was their course of action. My doctor told
me that even though I don't have the
outward physical characteristics of the
disease I do still have it.
I'm not worried as much about the thyroid
except for the fact that hyperthyroid
seems to be a little harder to get under
control than the other side of the
spectrum because it can have so many
causes.

I am sorry honey.
I have Hashimotto thyroiditis which will
soon make me a hypo and I have been Hyper
due to my antibodies attacking my thyroid.
This is easily controlled and put in
place. Don't worry, It will be ok. It
shouldn't take more than 3 months to get
you going. I am surprised he is starting
you on clomid so soon if he does not want
you to try. My doctor said the taking
clomid longer than 6 months could have
procautions. I have always wondered if I
have PCOS...hmmm, I think I am gonna have
to check that. iui is a very good method
for patients that have PCOS...

MG, I am so glad you got some answers. It
sounds like you have a really good,
thorough doctor. Here is a really good
site for pcos symptoms. www.soulcysters.com.
I have yet to be diagnosed (seeing a endo
tomorrow) but have always thought that I
have it also. The site has alot of info.
Good luck on the road ahead.

mg - I'm happy for you that you have some
answers. It sounds like there are
solutions even if the solutions are
perfect.
BTW, I think your research shows that you
have career goals that are in line with
your personal traits and interests. That
is something to be very proud of. A lot
of people don't end up in careers that
suit them.

urgggg!!! I am mad... I posted earlier
today and when I came back to this post it
wasn't there
Anyways, Mg I am glad that you finally got
some answers. THey may not being the ones
that you wanted to hear, but at least you
can finally start to put things together.
I had a hard time dealing with my 3 month
wait, and my best friend kept saying to
me....this just brings you one step closer
to your ultimate goal of having a baby.
I wish you the best on your road of trying
to find the right path for your body.
