Strange Symptoms Related to Low Blood Sugar ? Posted: 05-21-07 19:18pm
Hi Everyone,
I have a very strange symptom that several
docs have not been able to figure out and
I'm wondering if anyone here has had the
same thing or thinks it might be related
to hypoglycemia.
About 4 hours after my last meal if I
stretch really long with my hands above my
head or if I go from a sitting to
standing/walking position as I normally do
I get a very odd pulsating feeling in my
head and ears that corresponds with my
heartbeat and I feel faint. The pulsating
feeling is over VERY strong and my hearing
will be muffled in time with my pulse, as
if someone were putting their hands over
my ears and taking them off again, over
and over.
This goes on for about a minute to a
minute and a half and then things even out
and I'm fine.
My GP sent me to a cardiologist, who did
lots of tests and sent me to an
electrophysiologist who also did lots of
tests, who sent me to an endocrinologist,
who did lots of tests and no one knows why
this happens.
It is also unique in that it seems to
happen only when it is hot outside, and I
live in Nevada so it gets quite hot here.
I also am usually not having a hunger
sensation when this happens, but thought
it might be blood sugar related because th
only thing I have ever been able to pin it
down to is it having been about 4 hours
after I last ate and/or heat.
I drink ALOT of water and stay very
hydrated. This is driving me nuts!!!
Any and all help would be greatly
appreciated!!

My grandma has the same problem - she
can't lift her arms above her head because
it will cause her blood pressure to rise
and gives her chest pains. I don't know
what yours could possibly be since you've
already been to so many doctors but my
advice would be to quit stretching like
that and when you go from sitting to
standing or lying to sitting, take it very
slowly! I have high blood pressure so I
have to take things a little slow when
changing positions or I'll black out
because the brain loses oxygen too quickly
when you get up really quick.

It could be a mild form of thorasic outlet
syndrome. Look that up.
