as opposed to depressed or just a moody teenager or young adult, they'd put you on a mood stabilizer - Depakote, Neurontin, Lamictal, Topamax, etc. Wellbutrin is an antidepressant (not an ssri but it does have some of those qualities.) Antidepressants are generally not given to people with bipolar d/o because it could activate a manic episode. (But you never know, some doctors will throw pretty much anything at anyone.)
