Kinda Worried Here ...
Posted: 05-24-07 08:07am

Ok so I'm 24 weeks pregnant on Monday and so far since I was 19 weeks she's always been very active and seems to wake up and "play" at any poke on my belly and recently music, noises etc'. But since yesterday morning she hasn't been moving a lot at all, like yesterday I barely felt any kicks until late last night and they weren't as strong as usual. The this morning at about 9am she was kicking a bit, but still not strong. Now its like 2pm and she hasn't kicked, moved or anything. Is this normal for her to be less active, is she having a growth spurt or something? What should I do? Please help? Crying
or Very sad

They do go through less active times. Try to eat or drink something sugary and lay down to see if that makes her move around.

If your ever really worried about anything like that just call your midwife and asked to be checked over, it wil give you peace of mind!!

The same thing keeps happening to me tho! I am 30 weeks tomorrow and at first baby was really active, I felt movements all the time, then after a few weeks it just stopped and I hardly felt anything for a while, I must admit I worried about it too. But now It just seems that s/he does it alot sometimes it will be permantly dancing in there next it will be very quiet in there! Smile

As your baby gets larger, the space gets smaller for it to move around in. Babies, like adults, go through phases of rest and wakeful periods. When you are awake and upright, moving around, your baby has less room. It is when you lay down at night that the baby has more room to stretch and move.

Don't worry that there is less movement. Only worry when there is no movement.

If you are concerned. Eat something sugary to get the baby active. If that doesn't help ease your worries, call your doctor.

Hey thanks everyone, I've had a glass of coke and I can feel some movement sat up but thing is it just isn't as strong as usual. I'm going to wait until my mum gets home from work at 5.30 and then see what she thinks, I'll probably ring the midwife or out of hours doctor at 6 if I don't feel anything reassuring before then. I really dislike being pregnant, I go through constant panic and everyone says to relax now and start enjoying the pregnancy but I cant!

Laurenjay, I am in the same exact boat as you are. I am 26 weeks, and for the past weeks it feels like the kicks were weaker and less frequent. I asked and found out its because of a growth spurt right now. Also, when lying down, the movements feel forceful. good luck to you, and everything will be fine
