No Insurance...no Hope
Posted: 05-24-07 20:40pm

I have no insurance...what am I suppossed to do??? I know I am clinically depressed. I have really terrible anxiety and am such a unhappy person. I don't like my life or the person I have become in the past couple years but can't afford to go to a therapist or even begin to afford meds with out insurance...I am at a lost as to what to do. Any advice is very helpful. thanks

First of all - there is hope. Never assume that there isn't one - for there is always a hope for someone, somewhere. You just need to be a little more active and seek it.

Now, I know how difficult it is to get therapy without any insurance. So what I would suggest you do is just be your own doctor and research all kinds of skills and techniques people post on the internet that deal with depression and anxiety.

Even a simple proper breathing exercise will help in the long run. There are many articles written about anxiety, and provide a lot of mental exercises you can do in order to overcome the anxious thoughts. They aren't easy, but with enough practice, all your problems will become almost non-existent.

If you have any more specific questions, then feel free to ask.

I know in our community there is a free clinic once a week that people can go to. Also there are programs like united way and children's service society that do free group counselling. I think if you could contact your local social services you may be put in touch with different services that cost little to nothing that you never knew were out there. Give it a try! Very
Happy Good luck!

i'm pretty sure somebody posted on here a little bit ago with a problem similar to yours, and somebody suggested writing to the drug manufacturers as they can give you the medication for free if you explain your situation. i'd also try going to a free clinic.

good luck

You are in SC, right?

There are 'mental health' places which give services based on income. They see you now, and then bill you later based in income.

Thanks to 4 $ generics at wal mart and target, many antidepressants are available to you.
