Tummy Bug Or Cause For Concern ? Posted: 05-25-07 09:24am
OK Last Saturday my 11 month old woke up
in the night 3 times crying (very
unusual). In the morning she had a
horrifying poop that went everywhere,
stunk to high heaven and was sort of a sea
greenish color (eeewww). Later that day
when she was riding in the car she sort of
threw up a little, but it was mostly
mucous-y stuff, no chunks or anything.
The rest of the day she was just fine.
This morning she did the same thing-woke
up crying at 5:30, and then laid on my
chest dozing for a little while, then she
woke up and I offered her a bottle but she
didn't want it. Shortly afterward, she
kinda threw up a little bit again. Just
mucous-y stuff again. Later on she took
her bottle just fine, so I took her to the
babysitters. I want to write it off as a
recurrent virus or something, but the part
of my brain that knows too much wants to
jump to conclusions. She sounds like she
needs to be deep-suctioned or something.
Anybody have this type of thing going on?

Still Problem Posted: 05-31-07 11:58am
So my dh got this call last friday that
his .G'ma passed away, so we had to drive
1000 miles with my two children and
Hannah, the little one with nasty
diarrhea, continued to "scoot" her way
across the midwest to my in laws house.
She was cranky in the car and was cranky
our whole stay, but no fever. She didn't
have much of an appetite, but really only
wanted bottles. Being in the car made her
scream with a fury I have not ever known.
It was just terrible. So we left there
yesterday right after the funeral and
drove all the way back, and I tell ya,
that little t.errorist screamed bloody
homicide. from .Des .Moines .I.A to
.Lincoln, .N.E. I hate that drive enough
as it is, but this was just freaking
unbearable. When I finally pulled over to
check on her again because I had convinced
myself that she had developed a rare form
of dysentary (and I used to play the
Oregon Trail Computer game when I was a
kid....it always seemed like one of my
kids died of dysentery when I played
it...)When I finally pulled over, she had
passed out. So, I don't know what the
problem is, but she had diarrhea again
this morning at 5 am (we finally got home
at 3:30 am, so I can tell ya how
functional I am feeling today!)
Ugh...anyway, what the heck is this?? Is
it teething? Does she need an exorcism?
Please help!

it sounds like it could be teething, but i
haven't been there yet so i'm just going
by what i've heard.
i'd just keep an eye on her and make sure
she stays hydrated. maybe call the doctor
if the diarrhea continues?

I'd go to the doctor, but that's just me.

Of course, as soon as I make an
appointment for her, she has a normal poop
like nothing has been going on. It isn't
until next week, so i guess i will keep it
for a while and wait to see. She's so
happy again now that we are home...I guess
she just didn't like Iowa. That's my
girl!
