From Florida Metropolitan University.Apperanty a friend of mine went there to see about school(one who just had a baby) and she ended up enrolling.when she asked if there ws anyone who might be interested in going to school she put my name down and they called me today.I told the lady I had two jobs cause I was paying off a car and told her I was putting off going to school but she assured me there must be some way we could do it to where I can get grants or a way for me to afford it ($40 a month).I have to go up there on monday to talk to her and get a tour of the campus but i'm scared.I haven't been in school for a few years so i'm afraid and the whole money thing worries me.Also I wont have time for *anything* else (ie: no social life).I guess thats ok since its only a year or so but I'm still scared. . .just wanted to get that out and anyone with advise on whatever please feel free Smile

something in the medical field like x-ray tech or rn or soemthing along those lines.maybe even a midwife?

I'm already excited! lol I'm scared of the money and scared of working 2 jobs and going to school and i'm also scared to lose my bf. . .I know some people think thats a good thing but that is something i'm worried about.i'll have practically *no* time for him and I don't know if we (I) could handle it.I know it's a good thing for me to do and it will benefit me in the long run though. . .

listen, you'll do fine! i have faith in you, i think you can totally do it!

the money situation will probably be stressful but i think everything works out in the end, and when you're done i think you'll definitely be proud of yourself for going ahead and doing it!

here to be an rn it's 250 dollars a class, and i think it's for 2 years? but once you're done with it, they get paid good and then you can pay off your loans! and it's not like real school... it's like monday 8am to 1pm and wednesday 8 am to 1pm. every school is probably different, and it depends on how many classes you take at one time i guess.

i think you can make it work!

I have a close friend who was an xray tech and just graduated as an mri tech a couple of days ago. she graduated with honours. from what I know of her school days, there was a lot of physics and anatomy involved. she is a really disciplined person so she did well. i guess that's what it mostly boils down to, your aptitude for what you are studying and your level of discipline and determination. I personally absolutely love going to school and i hope everything works out for you if or when you decide to go!

.mel you are a smart young woman! I think college would be great for you. I know people can go to college at any age, but as long as they are willing to work with you now, why not go for it? That way once you graduate you can have a career instead of a job, and have a better income than both your current jobs combined! (as if I know how much you make, but it sounds good, right? Laughing)

I had some of the same concerns before I started school too. I just registered for my classes and I will finally be going back to school after about 3 and 1/2 years in July. I was so worried about money and work and everything else. I only have one job, but I am "on call" so I dont have a steady income. I was able to get financial aid for a loan, but I still have to pay that back as well. I was so scared I wouldnt have enough time, or that I would be overworking myself. But now I am glad that I am fianly doing it, I'm excited. It also ended up just working out great with timing. They ended up lowering the tuition for the program I wanted to do(how rare is that) usually it goes up even higher. I am confident that if you choose to go back, things will come together for you Smile I am all for going back to school and doing what you want to do. The medical field is a good field to work in as well... I will be a massage therapist when I am done with school. I hope you decide to go check it out and I hope that things work out for you. You will do fine, I too was not good at that physics and such in highschool, but I will be taking anotomy and physiology and other things(physics os more math related science) too. You'll do great and you have my support...I'll be there too, lol. Keep us updated.

mel u gotta think even if it is kinda expensive for a little while after your done youll only need to work one job. + you said its only one year so thats not bad 1 year to be in a better finacial situation for the next like 30-40 yrs sound like a sweet deal

I agree. I went to university fresh out of high school and it was hard because I didn't have the organizational skills and the discipline I have now. I think once you become a mother or you've worked for a while and lived on your own, you just have a little more motivation and drive than you do when you're just starting out. Of course there are exceptions, but being a working mom forces you to organize your time which is an important part of going to school. I know that now that I am going to be a mom, that second degree is more important to me than ever and I am more determined to do it, not just for me but for my family.
