Ultrasound, Ct, Upper Gi, Hida Scan All Normal Still In Pain
Posted: 05-25-07 17:23pm

Hi, I have been having awul urq pain for about a year. They thought it was too much fiber at first, but I kept asking for tests and all are normal. I did have endoscopy and it showed a gastric diverticulum, but they didn't think that was causing pain. My hida shows 50%. What else could this be? I see my doc the 29th and wanted to be prepared with possible scenarios to ask him about. I am in pain right this minute. Next time it occurs I will go to the ER. It was happening about 4 to 5 days a week anywhere from 2 to 24 hours. After the endoscopy, it went away for 16 days, then came back again about once a week. I cannot even care for my kids, bathe them, play with them etc when this happens.
Thanks,
Megan

Is that the only symptom that you are having? Are you having regular bowl movement. Have you had a colonoscopy? If not that should be the next step. Get testing done to see if you are having gallbladder problems. Also ask about checking for chrons disease. The colonoscopy would show up that you have it. My coy friend has been having stomach problems for three years now. He has missed months of school and still no luck. He is vomiting left and right and had his gallbladder out. His has visted the ER man times. It would also be good in you see a gastrologist if you dont see one now. It sometimes takes years to dignose a problem. Have you been to an different country in the pass year since this problem has started? Or been camping. You could have picked up a perisit without even knowing. You need to ask your doctor to have him or her run more tests.

thank you for your reply. I see a GI, thats who did the endoscopy, and he sent me to a surgeon and he would not say why. It is so upsetting, the surgeon he wants me to see will not take my insurance, so my primary doc sent me to one who is not sure what a gastric diverticulum is! UGH! I have not had a colonoscopy. I just wish they could do all these tests at once ya know? Thanks again!

I know you want a test done and it to show whats wrong. Believe me I wish that too. My boyfriend is so sick with stomach issues. Now there going to take out in appendix just to make sure. He has had so many colonoscopys and endooscopys he cant even stand to sit through another one. The stomach is such a strang orgen. But to tell you the truth it might be years to see if they find something if they do. For him in eighth grade he came down with a stomach ache then started throwing up thinking its a virus and ever since then he is still vomiting ever week. He hasnt been in school for four months forget about the other years. Well good luck but also ask your gi about a possible parisite b/e they are hard to pin point if you have one. And believe me that little organism that is in someones body can cause so many problems and if you did have one you would have it forever for they never go away. you would have to take meds to stop the symptoms.

all of my ultrasounds, ct, HIDAs, labwork, ERCP, endoscopy and everything was normal and they finally took out the gall bladder and the pathology showed chronic inflammation. So it could still be that damn little gall bladder causing your troubles...

Thanks everyone for the input!
Is there blood work they can do to check for inflammation?
