Breastfeeding Till Age 6 ? Posted: 05-29-07 13:33pm
Hi all, I'm a new mother and have been
advised that I should stop breast feeding
at the age of 12 months.
I was doing searches on breast feeding and
came across this Video [commercial link
removed] on how a British Mother was still
breast feeding at the ages of 5 and 9.
Is it appropriate like this Mother in the
Video to breastfeed for such long = i have
some doubts though ?

everyone has a different opinion, but to
me i don't think it's necessary at all.
your child can have fruits and veggies and
healthy food at the age of 6, they do not
need to be breast fed at that age.
it's a personal choice though, but if it
was my decision, heck no.

it's a personal decision but personally i
know that i won't be breastfeeding for
that long at all. I'm planning on trying
to go untill my daughter's first birthday
and then gradually wean her off over 6
months (maybe more or less depending on
the type of baby she is) after that. I
just think that it isn't really necessary
because children get their nutrients from
meats and veg at that age so breast milk
isn't needed. The way i see it is, ask
yourself if you were to give your child
formula milk would you be willing for them
to be having bottles of formula at 5 years
of age?

locked because this will turn into peanut
throwing - as ever.
At the end of the day do what feels right
and comfortable for you and your child.
