Bedtime ??? Posted: 05-29-07 16:48pm
What are everyones opinion about putting
the LO to bed earlier rather than later?
Recently my inlaws were over and couldnt
understand why I was trying to keep DS
awake till 10pm. I told them that was so
he would sleep later in the AM and my MIL
said that wouldnt make any difference?
Friends of mine also said the same thing
that keeping them awake longer would not
make them sleep later??? How can this be?
When I stay up till 4am I sleep later!?
He is 2.5 months and still usually wakes
once durring the night to feed. If I put
him down at 10pm then he usually wakes
between 2-4am for a feeding and then goes
back to sleep till about 630 or 7.
I'd love to put him down at 8pm but wont
that mean he'll be up earlier?
Im confused

I'm with you! If I put .Jaylon down at 10
then he will sleep until 4. If he goes
down at 8 he'll wake at 2. Some babies
sleep through the night, some don't.

I've read and heard that the longer you
keep a baby up the more tired they are,
the harder it is to put them to sleep and
they'll wake up more frequently during the
night. I see the same with Ava. I put
her to bed early and she sleeps better. I
would never keep her up if she wanted to
sleep.
I have always put my little one down
between 7:30 - 8:00 and she sleeps until
8:00am. She would get up maybe twice in
the night when she was that age and it was
only for a bottle then straight back to
the crib sleeping. Our routine has been
bath at 7:00, dress her, feed cereal
(3Months we started), read a story, then a
4-6oz bottle and to the crib for sleep
time. She is now 12 months and we still
have the same routine and she sometime
will wake-up for a 4oz bottle once.
Mostly when she is teething does she
wake-up. So I feel that your little one
might do better going to bed a little
earlier. I have read some where that you
get the best sleep before midnight. Who
Knows!
Hope this helps! This is just my routine
so it is not for everyone I understand.

The best time to put a baby to sleep is
between 7 and 8. They'll sleep the
longest and the best. Ava goes to be
between 830 and 930 b/c 7-8's not
practical for us.
