Sorry I disappeared for a while. I had to
try to rest for a while.
Bridget-The gaol is to have your body
naturally (or with hormonal help) resolve
the cyst. It can take longer, but Its much
less painful. I have had a previous doctor
rupture one also. So from my
understanding, its pretty easy to do. It
does speed up the process, but it causes
horrible pain for a few days. There is an
increases risk of infection with a rupture
because now there is an open wound
(basically). But, it happens all the time.
It's not that big of a deal honestly. It
just hurts. However, I don't know of
anyone having it ruptured thru the back
door. Thats a new one to me...
But, at least he didn't ask me if it felt
good.
That's just wrong...

If a cyst is big enough, rupturing it can
cause peritonitis (inflammation of the
peritoneum) because the fluid or mucous
inside can be caustic. One of the reasons
they decided to remove the one I had,
besides that it was huge, was that there
was a chance of leakage which could have
caused the peritonitis and maybe put me in
premature labour. I don't know how big it
has to be for that to be a concern though.
I'm sure you're just fine, sorry about
the pain though. Hope that subsides
quickly.
