Feeling Disconnected, Detached From Surroundings

I have been feeling very weird for the last 2 months or so. I'm not sure why but i think it may be because i'm a teenager and my hormones are unstable.

If anyone knows what problem this may be or if they've experienced the same thing, please let me know,

thanks.

Hi there, welcome to ehealth!

What exactly are your symptoms? Feeling "weird" is not specific enough. And yes, as a teenager, your hormones may be out of whack, because your body is developing into an adult body. You may feel very moody at times.

Do you feel any anxiety symptoms or depressive symptoms?

- shaking
- detachment, feeling on ungroundedness
- slurred speech
- confused state of mind
- panic
- fear

- sad for more than a month
- chronically tired (but this could be a growing body sign as well)
- stressed

At your age, feeling weird is definitely likely and nothing to be alarmed about unless your symptoms get worst. I hope this helps.

I feel stressed out with exams and I have trouble with peers at school. My confidence is quite low and I also feel ungrounded. When I look around, I don't feel like I'm properly here.

I do know people who have had a similar feeling but it's impossible to know if they had the same thing as I do.

Thanks for the reassurance. Wink

Have you talked to your parents? Feeling awkward as a teenager is normal but if it is too bad you need to talk to someone. My daughter went through a stage where she didnt know where she fit in. After over a year of counseling and talking to her, she seems to find her way. Try doing something new everyday. If you are afraid to meet new people, introduce yourself to just one. Thats what I do. You need to find your inner confidence and know that you are ok. Your are not alone. Tell your doctor also about how your feel. Sometimes temporary meds can work wonders. Remember one thing, at your age you go through life everything is temporary. The kids you know now will probably not matter to you after school. Be proud of who you are and set goals for yourself and stick to them. I'm almost 40 and almost everyday I wonder what my purpose is. Just be you, I'm sure there are alot of people who are ok with just you.
