Hey I used to
post here what seems like forever ago,
When I was pregnant with my 1st 2 kiddos!
I haven't been here in ages, With 3 I just
don't have much time!
This time Im here for a friend
I have a good friend who is pregnant and
finacially struggling right now, And no
one to help her with baby things or a baby
shower. She doesn't have any close friends
to throw her a shower and she is pretty
stressed about making sure she has
everything she needs before her baby gets
here.
She doesn't know the sex yet, But I made
her a registry online for things she needs
for a baby. Hopefully I didn't forget
anything, Its been years since I had mine!
Her registry is located
(removed)
And Im really trying to reach out and ask
anyone who could possibly help her out, by
getting her something on her registry.
Even if you cannot get something off of
the registry, A card with some words of
encouragment would be welcomed, Im sure.
She's so alone right now and I just want
to show her there are many people who care
about her and baby!

Hi sweetie. I'm not trying to be mean, but
it's kind of tacky to ask people to buy
things for a stranger. I've removed the
url to her baby registry - please do not
post it again.
Thanks in advance.

Im super sorry if this offended anyone, I
just didn't think it would. But was
willing to take the chance
There have been times in my life where I
have helped others and there have been
times where others have helped me.
When I was a member while preggo with my 2
first kiddos and for the life of me I
cannot remember my user name who was in bad
shape and I sent her all of my maternity
clothes and a few baby things to help her
out.
I didn't mean to make anyone mad at all.
And I didn't want to sound tacky.
I do want to say thanks to the person who
sent me message with some ideas.
Does anyone else have any ideas how I
could get help for her? I took her to the
local pregnancy assistance and they do
things on a "Voucher" basis and the list
just to get in the program is over a page
long. We did sign her up but its going to
be a wait.

you didn't make anyone mad, it's just not
everyday that someone comes on here asking
for us to buy something for a friend of
theirs.
its sweet of you to want to help her, but
i'm not sure how much she'd like it if she
recieved a bunch of hand outs and cards
from people she's never met before!
maybe if she comes here and gets to know
us it'd be less odd because then we'd be
friends or something?
it was nice of you to set up her registry,
i hope she gets the things she needs.

There are always thrift shops and
classifieds where you can find second hand
things for baby. There should be charity
groups in your community, call any church
and I'm sure they would hook you up with
some resources as well as the one you
mentioned. I would love it if someone
would buy me everything I need brand new
but it's my baby and my responsibility to
make sure I have what I need. I'm buying
a lot of second hand stuff and asking
family and friends if they have any old
stuff that they don't need anymore if we
can borrow or have it. I'd really rather
have everything new but unfortunately we
can't afford it so I'm doing the best I
can with the resources at hand. I hope
she finds some assistance, you're a good
friend for trying to help her.
I just want to add that you should figure
out what she really needs and when she
will need it. There are things that
aren't totally neccessary. If you can't
get a crib get a bassinette for now. If
you can't get a bassinette try a moses
basket. If you don't get the things you
need later right now, you can buy, borrow,
or have donated what you need now and
start saving for what you will need later.

Also try yard sales. We have gotten a lot
of stuff at yard sales, very cheap and the
stuff looks brand new. My mom just picked
us up a stroller at a yard sale a couple
of weekends ago for $30, and it's a really
nice one. It's the combo, that has the
infant carrier on it. My husband and I
went to a few a while back and got a crib
mattress for $2 that looks like it had
never been used and a ton of onsies for 5
and 10 cents a piece; they also looked
brand new. I plan on hitting a few this
weekend to see what other goodies I can
find. Good luck to your friend; I hope
things work out very well for her.

outfits for $8.most of them were expensive

We just got a great deal on a crib and
change table and high chair for $200.
They are all really nice and in great
shape, the people just wanted to get rid
of them because they aren't having any
more kids. We found the ad online. If
you keep looking you can find some good
deals.

I agree with going to yard/garage sales
and thrift stores. Babies don't abuse
their stuff, so if parents keep it clean
and store it properly cribs, swings, and
other stuff is perfect second hand. We
got a car seat and stroller that was $175
new and saw one very similar at a yard
sale for $30 (last years model). I'm
sure you know she doesn't need a lot of
baby clothes, because they grow out of
them too fast. Newborn size is a total
waste.
A lot of new parents have financial
problems, they deal with it.
