Just wondering if anyone out there has hypothyroidism and is pregnant or has been. I was recently diagnosed that is what brought me to the dr in the first place. So i have started taking meds I dont evenknow if my levels are normal yet, but im worried about the condition, the meds, and the fact that I am 4 weeks pregnant.
Iknow it is more important for the condition to be under control, just wondering if there is anyone out there who has had similar experience.

that would be me Smile

As long as you take your medicine (which you are suppose to do while pregnant) youll be fine. I know that one of my big worries in the beginning was miscarriage because of it. To be honest, i ran out of medicine for three weeks and couldnt get more and the baby was still fine. Im now 34 weeks pregnant and have a perfect pregnancy. The only thing i would tell you to look out for is weight gain, because it is so easy to do, especially with the thyriod issues. Like i said just make sure your meds are right, tell your obgyn and she'll test your levels to make sure they remain normal throughout your pregnancy because i have heard that they can jump all over the place ( mine hasnt changed but i have heard of cases where it has)

the biggest thing is try not to worry and enjoy being pregnant as much as possible!

as far as taking your medicine.. that can be rough in the first trimester because with mine at least i have to take in an hour before i eat. just do the best you can ( sometimes with the morning sickness its rough) i found if i either ate something and then took it out 2 hours after or just work up early took it and went back to sleep right away it was best.

I have hypothyroidism too! And my entire pregnancy went perfect, I have a beautiful healthy son now!

I agree, take your medicine. And the doctor will test your levels about every 6 weeks (atleast thats how often mine was tested). My levels never changed enough to change my medicine but some peoples do change a ton! And definately watch your weight gain! My thyroid problem affected my weight soo much and once I got on medicine I started a healthier lifestyle and lost a ton of weight..but as soon as I got pregnant I stopped eating as healthy and gained 80 pounds!! weight is a struggle with hypothyroidism on a daily basis but its twice as bad when pregnant!

Best of luck on your pregnancy!

Thanks so much guys, I will definately stay on my meds and get my levels checked regularly.
I am really worried about the weight gain though...will it come off easy afterwards, if I eat well and exercise??

Its not going to be easy but if you work at it the weight will come off. Its been really hard tho. Since giving birth my levels have started fluctuating so we are still trying to get me on the right dose of medicine right now. And with a little one and work and I'm in college its terribly hard to find time to exercise and I often find myself just grabbing whatever is around to eat. I just started a 'diet' (I hate that word, its more like a healthy eating plan) but hopefully I'll have some luck with that.

Just stay motivated and keep eating healthy! Good luck!

I just found out that I'm pregnant yesterday and I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid a couple of weeks ago. I have to go see an endocrinologist for treatment. Confused

lol it happens to the best of us.
i think something that can contribute is that a lot of people who are diagnosed with hypoactive thyroid have weight issues due to the problem. I got pregnant after i lost all the excess weight (figures lol)
Just my personal belief. When i started taking really good care of myself with exercise and diet i got knocked up

I will be four weeks Wednesday! I found out early because I was playing around with a digital test. I didn't even think I was pregnant.

Thyroid levels fluctuating
Hello:
I also have hypothyroid and have been diagnosed around 10 years ago. Although, my levels have been pretty normal, once I got the blood test during pregnancy, I had to increase my dosage from .125 to .175. Also, I do not see the doctor for 1 month. I am now 7 weeks pregnant and somewhat worried. I am traveling to the states for three weeks (I live abroad right now and it is a 20 hour flight), also, I have the patches around my eyes and am very lethargic...I take medication every day, early, but am still a bit worried,

Anyone else whose levels changed in early pregancy?

Just found out I have a hypoactive thyroid and I'm 7 wks preg
Hey,
I am 7 weeks pregnant with my 2nd kid and I just got a call from my doctor telling me I have an underactive thyroid. I am freaking out that he did not find this sooner so I could get on medicine. My mom has the same condition. I even asked him to check my thyroid before I got pregnant this time and he said I didn't need to. Now I'm reading all this stuff about developmental delay of babies whose moms were not on meds. Has any one else already been through this and had a normal baby?
