Bad Pdt Reaction

I was hoping someone may have some incling of what happened during a PDT treatment to treat acne. I had two treatments; the first time I experienced blisters in only two areas of my face. After that was healed I went for my second treatment a month later. There were no blisters, but whiteheads formed on my face, grouped together and became mushy (the only way I can think of to describe it). My face oozed and wept for a week and I lost a good portion of skin (only on my cheeks and chin– forehead and nose were fine). I was not able to get in to see my doctor as I live out of town, but I sent pictures of my face and he told me I had a reaction to the PDT that was the equivalent of a 35% chemical peel.

I am really having a hard time getting an answer as to why this happened. So far I have written several doctors online (no one has gotten back to me), my actual doctor has no clue, and the doctor who performed by PDT treatment only tells me that it was a bad reaction but he does not know the reason why. Or why the effect was so different from the initial treatment.

Does anyone understand why this has happened? Is the treatment in result of another skin condition? I didn’t seem to have any lesions or anything before I went in, only scarring from acne.

Has this happened to anyone else????

Any idea at all would be helpful. I’m having a hard time getting straight answers.
