My son is 2 months old and is teething. We bought the baby oral-gel but that cant be used on baby under 4 months without consulting a doctor first. And i wont be able to get ahold of my doctor till monday, and then id have to make and apointment and that takes forever. Any advice?

how do you know he's teething? just so you know, around this age is when they start chewing on their fists and drooling *a lot*, they don't know how to swallow when they're not eating so out it pours. a lot of people think they're babies are teething when they start doing these things.

if that's all he's doing, he's probably not teething. of course, he could be, but he's pretty young.

you can try giving him a frozen washcloth or a teething ring, but you'd have to hold it for him. that's all i can think of.

good luck!

If you think he is teething take him to the dr. and get it confirmed. You wouldn't want to be treating him with gels, tablet,s and medicines if he really isn't teething.

If he indeed teething, try cold things to chew on. Or if he runs a fever or anything then try tylenol (after consulting a dr. about the dose).

My son started teething just after 3 months. We took him to the dr. to make sure thats what it was first. I'd definately advise calling the dr.

I can see where Ava's teeth will eventually come out, but they're not yet. Do you feel the hard and sharpness of the teeth, not just gums?

Hi

Haven't done this in 23 almost 24 years, but when my daughter started teething, I used a tiny amount of the orajel for babies. I know it says do not use under 4 months, but as the post before stated, they drool because they do not swallow....so she really would not be swallowing the orajel. It only numbs the area where she was teething at the time. I also put a spoon in the freezer and allowed her to gnaw on it. Babies are miserable when teething, and if a tiny dab heir gums will help, whats to say 2 more months? Not a physican, but I'm a Mom too!
