Loestrin 24 : is it normal to miss a period on birth control Posted: 06-02-07 09:44am
I have been taking Loestrin 24 for the
past eight months. I have been having
normal periods that last three to four
days each time. When I was due for my
period in May it never came, I took four
home pregnancy tests and a blood test, and
each one was negative. In the middle of
May I had some spotting that lasted a day.
When I was suppose to get my period for
June I again didn't get it. Is it normal
to miss your period twice in a row taking
this birth control pill? I have always had
normal periods and have never been late or
missed one before.

Women who take birth control pills should
have regular periods. Missing a period or
spotting could be a side effect of the
birth control pills... but pregnancy and
some types of organic disorders
(infections, endometriosis, tumors…)
must be excluded first. You excluded the
pregnancy but you will HAVE TO consult a
gynecologist about the spotting if you'd
like a complete diagnosis and advice.
