MS ?: burning skin sensations + all over ache Posted: 06-04-07 09:55am
I have had burning sensations on my skin
(mainly my face and arms) for the pst 5
years (off and on). I ache all over and
my skin hurts to be touched sometimes.
This comes on lasting about 2 mts and then
goes away for about 4 or 5, only to
return. It's always the same symptoms.
I started on Zoloft in 2003 due to the
pain causing major anxiety and depression.
The Zoloft got rid of the pain for a
while, but it returned. It does seem that
Zoloft alleviates the pain usually, but I
am still on it and have had this pain
since March. Like I said... it comes and
goes for months at a time.
I have seen 3 neuros and 2 rheumatologists
since 2002. One was an MS specialist. He
assured me it's NOT MS; however, I read so
much about how it can take years to
diagnose. I had a brain MRI in 2005 on a
3.0 Tesla machine and it was perfect. The
MS specialist said he does not see
anything neurolocical going on w/ me.
I am very uncomfortable and in pain a lot
of the time.
Some other conditions you might explore /
examine as possible causes of the symptoms
you've mentioned - burning sensations at
the skin that come and go, pain throughout
the body - are possible vitamin B12
deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, or
fibromyalgia. If all these disorders are
excluded, then psychological stress, as a
factor, can be also be taken in
consideration as a possible diagnosis.
You can request further necessary
diagnostic tests with your current doctor.
