Urgent Advice Needed On Cardiomyopathi Posted: 02-26-04 23:59pm
Last night, my roommate started vomiting
uncontrollably. I called an ambulance,
and by time the paramedics got to the
house, they said he was in shock. His
body temperature was 92 degrees.
By time he got to the hospital, his
kidneys had shut down.
This morning, the doctor in icu diagnosed
him with cardiomyopathi. The theory is
that my roommate's heart started
deteriorating months ago. This makes
since, as he has been unusually lethargic,
especially these past 2 months. Keep in
mind, we are in our mid twenties in grad
school, so sleeping all day isn't that
unusual, so I really didn't think much of
it.
Anyway, his heart is now at the point
where it is operating at 3% efficiency.
This resulted in his drop in body temp and
his body going into shock.
At this point, according to the doctors,
his only hope is to get a heart transplant
and get hooked up to a dialysis machine.
Unfortunately, my roomate doesn't possess
the fortitude currently to survive the
surgery. The doctors claim to be giving
him some kind of drug that will hopefully
get him stronger, but the prognosis is
grim.
So I ask, in desperation I suppose, if
anybody here may know of something these
doctors do not. Some pharmaceutical that
would either help his heart beat, assist
in jump starting his kidneys, or give him
the strength to enter surgery. A new
heart transplantation technique that even
the weekest can survive. Something to
save my best friend.
Thank you for your time.

Heart Transplant Posted: 08-19-04 23:41pm
Hey
my husband has cardiomypathy. His heart
was damaged from previous heart attack.
He also at one point, had blood clot. His
heart either quit beating at night,or
speeded up to the point of cardiac arrest.
A few years ago,they inserted a
defibrillator, with two leads. It was like
the one they used when they shock your
heart into beating when you go into
arrest. It is inserted in chest muscle on
left side. He has had it for four years
now,and it going to have a three lead put
in soon.,for failing heart upper and lower
chambers now.,and then,maybe transplant.
You should ask if thisf would be solution
for your roommate. Then, you should think
about jesus, and what he did for you.
