Those Who Have Gotten Pregnant While Breastfeeding . Posted: 06-04-07 11:32am
My son is 8 months old and is breastfed
along with a formula supplement. My cycle
has not returned yet. My husband and I use
the pull out method. Two days ago my
nipples started getting very sore. They
have never been sore like this. I am
freaking a little. I know that the pull
out method is not a good form of birth
control but along with breastfeeding and
no period, I figured the chances were
slim. I wanted to buy a test last night
but my husband was with me and I didn't
want him to know my suspicions yet.
Anyway, have you or do you know anyone
that has had a similiar experience? What
were the symptoms, how far along when you
found out..etc. I do understand that it
is possible, I am not asking if I can be,
just looking for others experiences. Thank
you.

My sister got pregnant while
breastfeeding. She hadn't had her period
yet and they were using condoms. It can
happen.

you have to remember that you ovulate
*before* your period. since you haven't
had a postpartum period yet you really
can't know when you'll ovulate.
if you think you're having symptoms, i'd
assume a test would be accurate now.

It's very possible to get preg when
breastfeeding. The "pull & pray" is
not a good method. lol.

Lol! The last time that she got pregnant
was using a diaphragm, condom, and the
pull and pray. The woman is just sooooo
fertile that nothing works for them. That
would be why she has had 4 kids in the
last 6 years.
And then it takes me forever to get
pregnant. grrrrrrr, that's so annoying.

I don't know if it is true but I swear
that people have an easier time with their
second. That is why I am getting on b/c
right away. I really don't want to get
pregnant for another 2-3 years. We need
that much time to save up for another baby

I gotta say it, the pull out method isn't
a method at all. How come you don't want
your husband to know you may be pregnant?
Guys need to take responsibility too if
they aren't ready for kid number 2. Maybe
if he knew you were thinking you might be
it would get you two talking about a
better way of preventing pregnancy. I
haven't breastfed but I had to stop taking
the pill for other reasons and we were
using condoms. I think it was the 2nd
time we used only condoms and it slipped
off. That was all it took. I'm pretty
scared about this too, I don't want to get
pregnant right after having this one. I'm
gonna sit down with my doctor and talk
about all the options for birth control so
we can be super careful not to let it
happen again until we're ready.

I have already talked to my dr about b/c
and she has already said that she will get
me the .Nuva ring at my 6 week
appointment. I wish I could get it earlier
'cause I don't know how I am supposed to
go 6 weeks without sex.
I know, you're not supposed to have
intercourse for 6 weeks afterwards but who
actually waits that long?
