saw only the gestational sac Posted: 06-04-07 12:09pm
Have any of you done an early u/s and only
saw the gestational sac? I did mine at 5
weeks and 4 days due to sharp pains which
we found out were due to 2 cysts. The
doctor only saw a sac. There was nothing
in there that we could see. I am going in
again this Wed...Can anyone ease my
nerves?

It is a bit early, did you ask the tech ?
Most u/s are not done that early. Have you
looked up some pics online about what
pregnancy should look like around 5weeks.
Even though everyone is different, what
did your doctor say>

I think it was just to early to see
anything. I would bet that you will see
something at your follow-up.

I had an u/s at 5 weeks 2 days, and all we
saw was the gestational sac. I came back
at 7 weeks and there was a nice heartbeat
& a speck that was the baby. At 11
weeks, the baby was clearly visible &
quite active, waving its arms and legs
around.
I think you were just early. Some of what
you see in an early u/s depends on the
quality of the equipment, the skill of the
u/s tech, and the shape & position of
your uterus (if your uterus is tilted, you
may see less in an early u/s).

So we saw the baby and the heat beat at 6
weeks and 6 days, although the baby
measured 6 weeks and 3 days so a little
behind...hopfully she will catch up. I
cant wait to hear the heart beat and see
the baby active, CIn1812.
