Annoucing Pregnancy
Posted: 06-04-07 20:01pm

Hi there,
Just wondering when it is appropriate to let people know of the pregnancy??? I have heard 3 mths is ok to announce but I am finding it so hard to tell friends when we go for coffee and stuff. Is that bad? And we have definately told family. What has everyone else done?

My immediate family know right now because I want them praying for me due to my loss in March. I haven't decided when I am going to break the news to everyone else. I don't know that I can hold out two more months to tell everyone. I will at least wait until my first ultrasound.

Is it bad to tell people before 3 months, I feel guilty like I shouldnt have told the few friends I did...but I am so excited.
I am sorry to hear of your loss, I cant imagine what that must be like. Congrats on being preggers again, how far along are you?
I am just under 5 weeks.

I will be four weeks Wednesday, so I found out early early. I don't think it's bad to tell people before 13 weeks. A lot of people just don't because they are afraid of a miscarriage and then having to go back and tell everyone that they miscarried. I really don't think I can hold it in that long though.

We found out when I was 4.5 weeks along. We were both so excited, that we couldn't keep it to ourselves. So, within a few hours, I think everybody we knew got a phone call from us!!! Laughing We found out about a week before .Christmas, so it was a wonderful gift; especially for my father in law, who had been our case to give him another grandchild ever since my husband and I first started dating!

we found out we were pregnant when I was 4 weeks and 3 days! I was so excited!! I don't think anyone who knows me dosen't know!!! who cares when the right time is. I think that if they are true friends then you should want them to share this experience with you from day one!!!!!

I waited.

I miscarried my first at 13 weeks and it was extremely difficult having to tell everyone we'd lost the baby. then imagine that the news didn't reach everyone and weeks later someone asks about the pregnancy and just reopens old wounds.

I was very cautious the second time around.

I'm not trying to be a downer, that was just my experience.

iM sorry to hear about your bad experience. and of course that is the reason why they say not to tell before 3 months.
What do you do when someone asks are you pregnant, you just lie, coz om not a good liar.

well if someone had asked, i would've told them the truth but asked them to keep it to themselves because i wasn't ready to share the news.

but why would someone ask if you're pregnant? lol, if someone asked if i was pregnant out of nowhere i think my real response would be, "are you calling me fat?"

haha true huh...lots of our friends know how badly we want to have kids so they always ask if im pregnant yet. Ijust say maybe or if its a close friend I will tell them and ask them not to share anything. But its getting harder and harder.

We told everyone right away with my first pregnancy and it ended in miscarriage at 12 weeks. News spread fast enough that once we told a few people everyone that we had told about the pregnancy knew about the miscarriage so we didn't have to worry about telling everyone. I was thankful that I had such great support from those who knew what happened. I don't think I could have gotten through it on my own. I swore with the second pregnancy that we were not going to tell anyone until 13 weeks. Well, I think I made it an hour before I started telling everyone. With this pregnancy, my DH made me wait two days until it was confirmed by the doctor and then we started telling everyone. Those two days were incredibly difficult for me. I have a very big mouth!

With my 1st pregnancy, I told people as soon as the positive came up on the test! lol.

I did the same with this one.

Of course, I thought about it. But I pray, daily, that things turn out ok with this baby.

The thought of having to inform people of a miscarriage is heart wrenching! Those of you whom have gone through that, I sympathize. YOu are incredibly strong women.

Abbysmom I am so withyou, i have a very big mouth. SO I dunno I have been on a bit of a sick leave at work, but when I return I am sure everyone will be askign why i was off and if I am pregnant yet. I do work in the healthcare field so the staff is understanding.
And I DO pray daily that everything will be ok!!! And my thoughts are with all of you guys too!

I asked a co-worker if she was pregnant. I had just transfered into the division a few weeks prior. I'm ttc so I know all the tell-tail signs of a fellow ttc and early pregnancy signs/changes in habit. It was priceless. I waited until no one was around of coarse. Then I asked her how far along she was. She gave me a total deer in the headlights look. Then she asked how I knew. I told her A.) were taking the same prenatals, so I knew you either were or were ttc. B.) You stopped drinking coffee. C.) You cried at (I can't remember maybe american idol?) D.) You had a dr appt earlier this week and you already have one scheduled for this time next month. She was shocked. (there were alot of other signs, but they were all circumstancial.)

She couldn't really deny it to me. She was only 8 weeks at the time. She didn't tell me not to say anything, but, it goes without saying. It wasn't my place to say anything. She didn't tell our boss until 13 weeks though. No need in worrying everyone and getting passed up for a promotion (we were both up for it) until she needed to.
