Bad Weekend Posted: 06-05-07 19:09pm
so, in case no one has noticed, i havent
been here since saterday
valkyrie was in the hospital, she hasnt
been wanting to breast feed and so we
tried supplimenting with enfamil lipel,
but saterday (the second day of
supplimenting) she would not take it (she
had maybe 3 ounces together all day) and
then that night she started to puke
everything she ate so we took her to the
er
they admited her and (i know some of you
probably wont agree with this, but it was
my choice i did what i felt was right)
they did a bunch of tests, they took blood
and urine and did a spinal tap, i was in
the room when they took the urine and
almost had a mental breakdown so my mum
stayed with her when they did everything
else and made me go out of the room
they wanted to be sure she didnt have some
kind of infection since i am gbs positive,
but thankfully everything came back today
and it was all negetive, so we were at
childrens hospital from saterday night
until today at about 4
the doctor said she has a lactose
intolerance and a milk protein
intolerance, so she is on similac isomil
advance, unfortunatly i dont think im
gonna be able to breast feed anymore, the
doc said i might, but i drink lactose free
milk and that still has the milk protein
in it so im thinking that might be why she
is refusing the boob, and she hasnt had
breastmilk since saterday and she seems to
be doing better, so no matter how much i
want to, i think it might be best to stop,
unless i can get soy milk from wic
we were on the 7th floor and the "bed"
they had for the parents was right by the
window, just wonderful for me who is
extreamly afraid of heights bleh
well i just thought id keep you all
updated and i kinda wanted to vent a
little
my baby is only a week old and already she
is having problems, this sucks so much, i
feel so bad for her and so guilty that she
had to go through all of this

I'm sorry. Poor little girl.
You've had a stressful first week being a
mommy! I'm glad they figured out what the
problem is though. Once you know the
problem you can work toward the solution.
Does wic cover soy milk in situations like
this?
Stupid question: Whats gbs positive?

figured you were busy getting settled with
valkyrie.

things are better on the new formula.

I would have done the same thing girl!
I'm glad she's better. Don't feel
guilty!!! I know the first few weeks can
be very emotional and this doesn't help
any. Well at least it's nothing serious.
I could be alot worse.
frankly hun i think id be more worried if
you didnt seek help for her but you just
chose to help her so you are a great mom
hope she is feeling much better now hun

That is awful! I am glad that everything
is getting better. I hope you can go back
to bf if that is what you want to do. At
least if you can't, you can say you tried.

Alicia!! I'm sooo sorry!!!!
YOu would have done more harm had you not
taken her in.
Oni was on .soy formula and yes, wic
covered it. She had no medical reasons to
be on it, I just chose soy and they
respected my decision.
So, don't worry, wic will cover it.
When she turns a year, they will also
cover goats milk(has more proteins then
soy milk) or even soy milk.
I'm glad she's doing better!!!!
More pics please? lol!

Bless her, i'm so glad she's alot better
now though. My neice was lactose
intolerant too and she grew out of it by a
year so perhaps .valkyrie might be the
same
