Please Help, Who Is Most Likely the Dad? Posted: 06-07-07 14:59pm
I had sex with guy “A” on May 6th My
period had stopped the day before. Right
after we had sex I thought it was a little
bit weird because I started bleeding. I
didn’t know if it was from the sex(he
was pretty big) or if it was from my
period still. This was the only time we
had sex.
A week later I had sex with guy “B”
and continued to have sex with him until
two weeks ago.. the last time would have
probably been the 26th.
I took a pregnancy test last Saturday
which was the second. It came out
negative. I took one this morning, June
7th and it was positive.
Who is most likely the father? I know only
a DNA test can tell for sure but who would
it most likely be?
Also, I have been drinking, and smoking..
I didn’t know I was pregnant. Will this
affect the baby at all?
I am not ready for this.

My uneducated guess would be guy b, only
because it's more likely that his sperm
would have been present when you ovulated.
But you'll need a paternity test to be
sure.
Try not to worry about the effect of your
past smoking and drinking - there's
nothing you can do about it now. But
definitely don't smoke or drink anymore.
Better to play it safe.

Thank you for the quick answer..
is this what everyone else agrees on too?
Also, is there a way to see who the father
would be before I had the baby?

Well, you could ask your doctor about
doing an amniocentesis. They will insert a
long needle through your stomach into your
womb and collect some of the amniotic
fluid. They can determine the father, and
also the sex (with 100% accuracy), through
this method. But there is a risk of
miscarriage with this procedure, and your
doctor might not agree to do it. It's not
a decision that should be made lightly.
You should do a bit of research and
definitely discuss it with your doctor
before making a decision.
Do you happen to remember the day your
period started?

The 1st or the 2nd actually...
I wouldn't want to do that if those could
be the complications.
But with this in mind.. I am really
confused about keeping the baby to begin
with.
I thought that when this day would come I
would never ever THINK about getting an
abortion.

Well, it's sounding like guy b is probably
the dad.
We don't really talk about abortion on
this forum, but you can go to http://pr
egnancy.ehealthforum.com/health/forum168.h
tml if you would like to discuss your
options. The girls there won't judge or
pressure you in one direction or another.
But I will say this: take some time and
really think about your options. Try not
to rush into a decision one way or another
- you might regret it later. You should
also discuss this with the potential
father and see what he thinks. You don't
need his permission to abort or keep the
baby, but it might make you feel better if
he's supportive.
Good luck, hon. I hope everything works
out for you.
