Pain in rectum during bowel movement + monthly diarrhea Posted: 06-08-07 16:11pm
Lately I have been having a light pain in
my abdominal area and today I have had
about 4 bowel movements and my stool is
soft and an orange color. When I go to the
bathroom, there's pain in my rectum when I
am having a bowel movement. I have a
history of once a month diarrhea and
stomach comlications due to stress,
anxiety, etc. I need to know if this is
normal because I usually avoid doctor
visits at all costs.
According to the symptoms you describe
(light abdominal pain with little
diarrhea), you could be experiencing a
gastrointestinal infection. A
microbiological examination of the stool
is necessary to identify possible causes
of an intestinal infection. Pain in the
rectum/anus while having bowel movement
can be due to some local lesion like
fistula, fissure, inflamed hemorrhoids
etc.
Stress and anxiety can also manifest as
gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea,
constipation, bloating, abdominal pain
etc.). That is so called irritable bowel
syndrome (IBS).
You can visit your Primary health care
provider if the diarrhea continues in
order to request diagnostic examinations
and consultation.
